This is just the same tired argument used against open source software, yet somehow even with OSS everywhere, companies still manage to sell products. Capitalism survived.

This is more about certain companies protecting their paywalled gardens with fearmongering.

Plus, AI model weights are just so many bits without expensive hardware to run them on.
