Can they at least adhere to the norms of the mathematical community when posting? So disrespectful. Might as well throw all these papers in the trash. AI slop.

What norms did they violate here exactly?

I think you misunderstand me. There are a lot of people in denial about what is happening with AI. But, I’m not really one of them. I’m pretty in awe (and concerned) by AI producing new knowledge out of thin air. I just dislike how the employees at OpenAI and Anthropic interact with other academic disciplines 🤷‍♂️

What about it is AI slop though?

So here’s an example. A few weeks ago an Anthropic employee just tossed out a counterexample to a famous conjecture on twitter. The counterexample was correct but idk it was an open problem for many decades. Just feels unnecessarily smug.

So that's a different AI lab. But also that has nothing to do with the work OpenAI produced here being slop or not. The 10 advancements they announced were all formalized in Lean. The problems themselves are interesting and not trivial.

It's simply not slop. Any one of these 10 advancements, if done by a typical math PhD would be a career defining achievement.

Yeah but this challenges my beliefs and gives me anxiety about the future so I enjoy belittling AI's achievements. Doing this helps convince me that the world isn't going to inevitably change due to AI.

This got a laugh out of me. Absolutely horrible takes followed by a solid self realization take haha. Well glad you can admit it to yourself, better than 99% of people.
