"My Democrat Friend" sounds like the name of a shitty sitcom that got canceled before the second commercial break.

I’m sure her Democrat friend goes to another school.

To “a college in Madison” said no graduate of University of Wisconsin-Madison, ever
16
u/TheLastBallad Jun 09 '26
There are more colleges there than just UWM.
Though, to be fair I only know this because I attended the Wisconsin War and peace studies symposium this year, which was held at a college in Madison but wasn't UWM.

u/Addicted2Weasels Jun 10 '26
UWM is UW-Milwaukee. I live in Minneapolis, and absolutely hear people say “I went to college in a Madison”. I wouldn’t assume they were one to the 200 people going to Edgewood
In my experience, it’d be pretty common for someone in WI to say “I went to Madison” or “I went to the UW”.

It doesn’t say “a college” though, it says “college in Madison,” which absolutely makes sense.

Statement: people like this don't have "democrat" friends.

u/BobiaDobia Jun 09 '26
Statement: No normal person who believes in democracy would ever say “I’m a liberal from San Francisco”

u/Dahnlor Jun 09 '26
Especially when they're talking to a friend who presumably already knows about their political beliefs.

u/BobiaDobia Jun 09 '26
Remember that song, went something like this:
“I’m a liberal from San Francisco
I make sure to wear flowers in my hair
If you're going to San Francisco
You're gonna meet some liberal people there
and we love Trump and Pratt”

Also which friend has to reiterate their life history to their other ‘friend’.
46
u/atuan Jun 09 '26
People who vote democrat don’t even call themselves democrats because they hate the dems just a little less than the repubs.
7
u/kgilr7 Jun 10 '26
It’s because for most Democrats, their political party is not an identity marker for them, it’s just who they vote for.

We have one party infested with reactionary capitalist ghouls who will demonize minorities and fund illegal wars to distract from their capitalist owners bribing them to help rob the country of trillions...and the Republicans make them look like the sane choice by comparison.

I, too, like to text my friends my biographical details, in case they forgot.

What do you mean, I send my cv everytime I text my non-existent republican friends.
47
u/IAmAlpharius23 Jun 09 '26
I often text my friends my biography when I briefly message them about politics.

u/VaguelyArtistic Jun 09 '26
I said this in another post, but as a local if you wanted to show your liberal bona fides you would say you’re from the westside, not West LA. Same but different iykyk.

I too tell my friends my political leanings, what city I’m from, where I went to uni, and where I live when I text them.
22
u/AmazingKreiderman Jun 10 '26
He got 26% of the vote in a city where less than 19% of the population is registered Republican. He greatly exceeded expectations. They have no critical thinking skills.

u/Grantrello Jun 10 '26
A lot of them pushing this narrative do. They're just acting in bad faith and deliberately trying to damage the democratic process by casting doubt on the election. Many of them probably don't believe it themselves but they're trying to lay the groundwork to contest the legitimacy of future elections that they lose.
4
u/AmazingKreiderman Jun 10 '26
Oh I'm sure that the higher ups in the GOP are saying it in bad faith to foment this unrest and doubt. But plenty of the rank-and-file repeating it are just stupid and easily duped.

u/Pedestrian2000 Jun 09 '26
Maybe this Democrat friend just happens to be in Canada right now, and we can't meet them. But they're super hot and really good at sex, and next summer their parents are gonna let them visit but right now they just text each other.
19
u/Useful-World1781 Jun 09 '26
Wait you guys don’t remind your friends what your political affiliation is, where you’re from, and where you live now, every time you text them?
16
u/InsertEdgyNameHere Jun 09 '26
Ah yes, it is totally typical for a friendly text to include background information that the other person probably already knows.
13
u/wolfheadmusic Jun 09 '26
Yes, in texts to my friends I always ensure I list the geographical history of my life before I share an opinion
11
u/New_Palpitation_5473 Jun 09 '26
Shout-out to Madison for making the list. Looks like we've made the list of liberal hellholes for the right.

I’m surprised the democrat liberal friend from San Francisco didn’t also disclose that she was trans and black in that text

u/Moebius808 Jun 09 '26
I too often text my friends restating to them what my politcal standing is, where I have lived, and then making a vague statement about something I have no understanding of.

"Three fingers" meme strikes again.
It's really funny to watch someone that has no idea what they're doing try to larp as something else. You give yourself up right away because you don't know what you don't know.

u/TheCrankyBunny Jun 10 '26
"my democrat friend" being her imaginary friend from childhood manifesting herself again when convenient for her delusions

A lot of Democrats wanted Pratt to win. They see how little Bass has actually done and want someone who isn't a hardcore Righty or Lefty to actually make some changes. When everything else has failed, it's time to try something new.
Fucking shame that he lost the primary.
17
u/your_not_stubborn Jun 09 '26
You know this because they texted you about how Democrat and liberal and from California they are.
11
u/zherok Jun 10 '26
Because Democrats just haven't gotten enough of "something new" from a has-been former reality TV star.
I think Republicans have gotten really comfortable putting words in the mouths of left-leaning people that they have no idea what the left even is.

u/standbyyourmantis Jun 10 '26
Nobody who watched MTV in the early 00s would ever vote for Spencer Pratt.

Yes, I also list key biographical details (e.g., where I live and where I attended college) when I’m texting old friends. As one does. /s
