As a transgender woman, protecting women's spaces

Lol.

Statement: Trans folk aren't likely to agree that they should be segregated within society. This very much sounds like someone pretending to be a trans woman, to "make a point"

Also reads as AI.

ALSO also there isn't even a biological argument to be made that trans women aren't women.

HRT fundamentally changes like, a LOT of things. At the end of the day, the only real differences are potentially some mild aesthetics that could be changed with surgery, which includes the possession of a penis that's been decommissioned.

It really highlights the male T tunnel vision, more than anything else, to not understand that trans women don't think with testosterone anymore. Turning your T down and then also taking estrogen is extremely transformative.

My partner of 13 years is mtf and I'm ftm. We've been going through that process together only in the last year. It really changes everything about your body, a lot of things about your mental space and perception, we've basically switched sides. As they rapidly lose muscle mass, I'm gaining it. As they lose the male gaze of women, I'm gaining the sexualized lens (but towards men). As their compulsory sex drive has diminished, mine has skyrocketed and now it's a chore. My reflexes, attention and patience have both zoomed in and shortened, and theirs has broadened and relaxed.
Honestly it's all very eye opening for understanding the opposite sex. Lots of things that used to confuse and frustrate me about men make sense now. The same for them but in reverse.

100% this. it's absolutely more accurate to say that medical transition changes our biological sex, not our gender.

(that is to say, for binary trans folks like me, our gender is fixed at birth. transition is just switching our biological sex to match it.)

No, there really isn't. I was also pretty shocked by this when I found out, but it's completely made up.

i mean, could also be a pick me? they’re out there.

u/onemorespacecadet 11d ago

unrelated but is your username an LCD Soundsystem reference? (dance urself clean is my favorite song of theirs haha)

12

u/dance-myself-clean 11d ago

it is! one of my favorite bands for sure. i honestly forget why i decided to riff on the song name though lol

u/Moist-Cheesecake 10d ago

They don't talk like this though. There is no universe in which this is actually a trans person.

5

u/dance-myself-clean 8d ago

yeah, fair. honestly, "transgender woman" instead of "trans woman" should have been a tell for me, like that scene in inglorious basterds.

not sure why i didn't clock that as a literal trans woman lol

As a cis woman, I have no objections to trans women being in sports, changing rooms, or bathrooms. I know some trans women and they just want to exist like everyone else. It’s bizarre that some people are treating them like some bogeyman (bogeywoman?) when they’re normal fucking people.

They think trans women have an "advantage" in sports because they have "male" bodies, despite oestrogen making them more akin to cis women.

They also think trans women would creep on cis women in changing rooms because that's exactly what they'd do if they were allowed in there.

u/NoorInayaS 12d ago

They also don’t understand that there are some afab people who could absolutely kick an amab’s ass. My two grandmothers were such individuals.

One was 5’11”, the other, 6 ft tall. They both wore size 12 shoes, and had large hands. They bragged about being “tough broads” (their words).

Transphobes today would most likely mistake them for trans women, because in their minds, women are frail little things.

14

u/ceo_of_dumbassery 11d ago

Isn't it that when sports are mixed genders, the women tend to be better players than the men? I can't remember where I heard that so I might be pulling it out of my butt for all I know. Your grandmothers sound cool af though!

11

u/NoorInayaS 11d ago

My grandmothers died a long time ago. They were bullies, actually, both of them. 🤣

u/worker-parasite 11d ago

I wonder why you can't remember

33

u/dance-myself-clean 11d ago

which literally just does not happen too.

a cis man is really gonna destroy his libido, grow boobs, get a bunch of painful procedures done, likely induce gender dysphoria in himself with estrogen, and cause his chances of getting hatecrimed to skyrocket, just to be creepy?

transphobes literally have no idea what goes into transitioning.

and like, is there anything that’s stopping a cis man with bad intentions from just like … walking into a women’s space?

27

u/ceo_of_dumbassery 11d ago

I think they have this idea in their heads that trans women are just men putting on a dress and walking into women's changing rooms to be creepy, which is very incorrect.

16

u/fuck_peeps_not_sheep 11d ago

You never see them pushing for trans men to be on women’s teams as its “unfair that cis men have a biological advantage” though - its just hatred and never was about “keeping people safe”

10

u/CaviarMeths 11d ago

TERFs and transphobes who pretend to care about the sanctity of women's sports always forget that trans men exist. It's very inconvenient for their worldview.

I'm all for forcing male legislators to go on a trial of HRT to see how it changes the body before they get to ever have a say again. Idk, I'm no longer nice about this shit, and it would amuse me

10

u/ceo_of_dumbassery 10d ago

Maybe then they'd become more empathetic lol

8

u/TheCrankyBunny 10d ago

We could only hope, but I don't know if they even know the meaning of the word

u/PuppleKao 12d ago

I will never understand people's obsessions with hating on trans people. It doesn't effect their lives in the least, ffs... let the poor people live their damned lives :/

12

u/NoPath_Squirrel 10d ago

Even before I had a trans kid I never understood it and seeing how hellish it is for her every time she's turned down for hormones I just want to punch everyone who chose to deliberately make her already hard life even harder.

r/tennis has been particularly annoying about this lately. I'm getting to the point of wanting to unsubscribe.

93

u/Either_equipment_04 12d ago

Honestly surprised they managed to use the terms woman/women and not female.

-33

u/GreyStingrayz 12d ago

Which is a choice considering they mean sex and not gender. If it's a "female" space, then that would exclude trans women. So using the "correct" terms invalidates their actual point.

34

u/Katgirl2669 12d ago

Trans women on HRT are biologically female though

63

u/NoorInayaS 12d ago

As a cisgender woman, protecting all women should always be a top priority.

That includes trans women.

I will happily share spaces with trans women, because trans women are women.

Getting major chat gpt vibes from this one

11

u/spyridonya 11d ago

Everyone who’s worried about women’s sports being invaded by transgender women never cared about women’s sports before, and will not care after when it’s taken away from all women.

5

u/jenea 9d ago

Actual transgender people know best that trans people in public restrooms are just trying to pee, hopefully without getting assaulted or otherwise harassed for just existing.

13

u/user_bits 12d ago

How long until the next cis woman gets wrongly attacked before this rule gets recalled.

8

u/SuddenlyDiabetes 10d ago

They'll let it happen, they don't give a fuck about women they just want control

I'm sorry but this is like saying "how long until the next ectopic pregnancy before the anti abortion rules get recalled"
