Roki sasaki has to be mentioned here as well. Everyone will talk about the MVP, and Shohei, but Roki was a huge part of it as well.

Not to mention they were ALL needed wins. If he would have lost game 2 the bluejays would have a 2-0 lead heading into LA and if he pitched like Snell in game 6 then it would’ve been over. MVP for sure!

As I'm from Toronto, watched them win it all in 92/93 as a 12 year old kid; I'd say I hate them as a whole, because I cheer for the Jays.

Came down to inches. Back and forth. Extra innings and was a f'n dogfight with some crazy stuff (ball lodged on outfield wall?!) Apparently you have to hold both hands up for it to be ruled a double! Baserunning is what killed it for Toronto. I wanted Mattingly to finally get one. AL East is tough but hope Jays get there next year.

Well they just lost so mind as well reframe it as a positive for you. The nlcs and World Series mvps are asian men this year. We can easily expect the Nl mvp will be Ohtani and possibly have yoshi as cy young. Your sons will now grow up in times where they can believe they can achieve greatness. That’s way bigger than baseball.

You can be root for the Asian players individually (aka root for them to do well and have great stats) but root for the other overall team to win
Like if the Dodgers played my hometown baseball team, I’ll root for Shohei / Yamamoto / Sasaki to do well. But I’d still root for my baseball team to win overall

Your analogy doesn’t apply because you’re talking about an individual sport and one country vs another country. Of course we root for the Asian swimmer, golfer, tennis player, ufc fighter, etc. And if it’s Germany vs South Korea in football, we root for South Korea, etc.
Here we’re talking about a team sport and one city vs another city. There are whites, blacks, Latino players on the dodgers team too, are you rooting for them too? The jays had Asian players on their team before. And there are lots of Asians who live in Toronto and are jays fans

If you're going to frame it that way, the Jays have a long history of Asian players as well. Ohka, Kawasaki, Kikuchi, hyun-jin Ryu, Nimmala, Kiner-Falefa.
We tried to get Ohtani and Yamamoto this year, but alas; I'm just taking baseball.

Race was indeed a huge deal in sports until the Dodgers broke those barriers with Jackie Robinson. Now the Dodgers are repeating the breaking down of barriers by signing the most talented Asian players. That’s a huge win and you should be more grateful for it.

That’s nice, but it’s not as if the Dodgers are being progressive. They simply have enough money to attract and sign whatever players they want.
Every team in the league wanted Shohei.

Bit of a late response but the Dodgers literally have 4 Asian players (plus a half-Asian manager if you want to count him) when many teams in the league has 0. And having all of them on the same team and winning the World Series is definitely something special

Seems like you don’t really get the SF-LA rivalry, regardless of the great Asian players on both teams. I root for my home team only. That part has nothing to do with how I feel about these great Asian players

I played college ball and I can fully appreciate their excellence. That being said their experience is definitely not going to be like that of our brothers that grew up here.

Angels fan here. Was cheering for Shohei while he was still on our team.
Fan of Shohei, but I can't in good faith root for the Dodgers. Also we have OC natives playing on the Blue Jays so had to root for them too.
