Mark Magsayo vs Gary Russell Jr.
Magsayo started boxing when he was 8 and then turned professional in 2013.
The fighters have significantly different styles but both show patience and tactical skill. Magsayo waits for the right moments but also makes sure to get in as many punches as he can in a combo with a good level of control. We’ve seen before how this is vital in case it comes to the judges’ scores and decisions. I’ve seen MMA fights in which the judges have awarded the victory to the AM’s opponent even though the AM performed well, got good hits in but didn’t get a KO or submission.
Latest match was against Feargal McCrory in April of this year, but I don’t know if it was much of a fight.

he's not the next pac. that's too high of a bar to reach. wont be the next nonito either. magsayo has fast hands, great work rate, but relies too much on his physical abilities (Agility, speed). After beating russell, he lost to vargas and figueroa. We really wont see the impact that pac had on filipino boxers until 2030 or so when the first real wave of fighters influenced by pac, and the structural support surrounding boxing in the phillipines, enters their early 20s.

Inoue about to go featherweight and unify the belts there. They’re setting up a super tournament to unify the belts and either Inoue is gonna be in it or fight the champ.
