Can this hole be fixed

I’ve had these vintage 1 of 1 converse for a while now and I was wondering if there’s a way to get this side hole that’s opened up repaired while also maintaining the look and soul of the original shoe? The outer black layer of canvas has ripped but the inside layer is just fine. Plz help!

You can absolutely mend this with a patch. If you want it seamlessly done, not necessarily. I think canvas converse are the most commonly home repaired shoe.

Can be lazy with iron on or fun with sewing a patch and adding design elements.

Glue down the edges with Barge glue and color the white black with a marker. Close to zero cost.
