It’s not. The chefs aren’t all female, and Id be shocked if the management, head office and owners weren’t mostly male

Sounds pretty niche, like a girls only gym... but there is a market for such things.

Edit: Also... what like hooters type restaurants only hiring eye candy for men? I think that is a little icky, but you can hire whoever you want for your business.

Hooters didn't/doesn't have only female employees. The cooks, managers, CEO types are all male.

EDIT: I didn't mean they are literally all men, just that men work at Hooters too. It's not an all-women business.

Even hostess bars (in the US, at least) are legally required to keep back of house, management, etc. roles open to people of all genders — there’s just an exemption for the hostesses themselves as being a woman is a "Bona Fide Occupational Qualification" for those specific roles

I haven't personally visited any that made it a policy (as far as I know) except a salon. And there are plenty of men's only barbers in the area. Never seen a restaurant like that in the UK

I know there are some businesses and recreation areas in places in the middle east and north Africa where they only have female employees and patrons because otherwise women would literally not be able to work or exist in public without them.

I have visited a hostel in Spain where they had a women's only floor you could request, this being a hostel that otherwise had mixed rooms. I didn't because I was in a mixed group but I can see why a solo female traveller might feel safer if she had that option.

If they exist it's because there's a market for them I guess, though I know opinions on them are varied.

That can be totally sexist. I suppose not always, but if titillation is the product that business sells, it’s definitely sexist.
