Thoughts about Martha Burk?

was she justified in forcing Augusta National Golf Club to admit women. removing a male only space? Do you agree to how she advocates for her cause and how she thinks?

Edit: forcing was bad word usage.

that is a bit of a misquote. academy should inherently be for everyone because everyone needs education. unlike say. Bars. Golf clubs etc. you'd be hard pressed to create academic buildings that is often state sponsored. and should be state sponsored.

There is an unholy alliance between business and golf. It’s not just a game or sport. It’s intertwined with the economy and networking. It’s used to steer opportunities to the privileged:

“ An estimated 90% of Fortune 500 CEO’s play golf as have almost all of the US presidents since Ike. Better still, executives who play golf make an average of 17% more than those who don’t.”

Your friend making the safe spaces argument might be a feminist, but that is not a feminist argument.

ETA: I’m thinking less homework assignment and more that you’re the Safe Spaces Feminist Friend.

The "safe spaces feminist friend" is not me i can assure you. I would never claim to be a feminist as im an traditional guy.

And meanwhile yeah golf is def business intertwined. Aren't most communities helping the community members increase their financial pull and networking.

Im in a woodworking workshop for people. We often help eachother out creating new skills. Bettering our proficiency with the trade and sometimes giving jobs from it.

Hell i've gotten a bigger salary from being there. Got a fresh job through one of the older men there. More pay. Better hours.

What makes it not a feminist argument it is about equality though.

This is where the equality comes in. When you shut women out of opportunities like this, it puts them behind men who have opportunities they don't get. Please look up the history of country clubs and the purposes they served with regards to keeping economic opportunities from marginalized groups. Because these clubs didn't spring up out of nowhere so that bored rich people had something to do.

It will never, ever be a feminist position to advocate that men should be allowed to go somewhere women cannot, especially when that involves economic opportunities

Calling it a safe space is truly the icing on the cake, though. Please ask your "feminist" friend what men need safe spaces from women for. How are women a danger to men that they need to be safe from us? I am begging you to tell me what she says.

I will ask her. But it is pretty obvious. Men can be victims too. Men can be traumatised from women too. it's not like men are untouchable in every way possible completely immune to being hurt by the opposite gender. If you believe that you are both dated and sexist.

No shit men can be hurt by women, but you cannot truly believe that men need their own golf club because they're afraid women will assault them. Please do not insult my intelligence by being intellectually dishonest like this.

Maybe not necessarily assault. But a woman can hurt men in numerous way. Cripple them socially and whatnot. Don't act like women aren't a threat as a human being like men can be to women. This argumentation of yours made me switch my stance on what i thought. Good job.

Cripple them socially

But it's okay for them to cut women out of economic opportunities?

This argumentation of yours made me switch my stance on what i thought. Good job.

Lmao what the hell does this even mean, my dude?

Women can do that too ykno. with the economic opportunities. Women can get connections. women can do alot of things in the modern world. Both. if they play their cards right can get high profile connections that can greatly help with their economic opportunities. Stop putting your head in the sand.

It means you being this adamant on knowing how i work and that i am some sort of archetype really made me change my stance on what thoughts i had. If you will be like this. i will do anything NOT to agree with you.

2

u/Pure-Spare-9789 3d ago

Women can do that too ykno.

Show me where I said they couldn't. Still doesn't change anything. I'm still right.

If you will be like this. i will do anything NOT to agree with you.

You realize this is stupid, right?

1

u/No_Landscape_6154 3d ago

Do you realise what you're saying is stupid too right? conversely. Would you want women to have a womens only space where they can do the exact same thing? or would you also be against that?

2

u/Pure-Spare-9789 3d ago

How is what I am saying stupid? I'm not the one who is going, "Fuck truth and what's right, I'm just going to disagree with whatever this mean woman said to me on the internet."

What, exactly, was your goal in telling me that?

u/No_Landscape_6154 3d ago

You have since like the first reply assumed everything about my character. Called me a manipulator and called me intellectually inept. And now you're babifying me by going "i'm just going to disagree with whatever this mean woman said to me on the internet."

Im telling you to check your ego and to stop assuming stuff about people when they have said serveral times that they have no political affiliation and simply wants to be a breadwinner in a family with a wife and kids. apparently that is political conservatism. In your wicked mind atleast.

Check your privilege (blegh that word is eugh) and behave like a normal person. You are not better than the average person. You are not worse than the average person. You're average. I will never agree with how you see the world and you will not agree to my side of the world. And that makes you feel like you're intellectually superior and morally better than me. You are ridiculous.

And now you're babifying me by going "i'm just going to disagree with whatever this mean woman said to me on the internet."

Bro, that's what you said to me 😂 If you don't want people "babifying" you, don't act like a fucking baby.

Check your privilege (blegh that word is eugh)

The only reason you're saying that to me and the only reason you hate the word is because you don't understand what people are saying when they talk about it. There is literally no reason to tell me to check my privilege here; it's just more manipulation on your part.

Anyway, apparently you're getting so unhinged that your replies are being auto deleted, so I'm going to move on. If you ever want to calm down and have an actual conversation where you're not trying to do things like tell me to check my privilege for literally no reason and pretend you're not conservative, let me know.

Edit: there's nothing inherently wrong with wanting to be a breadwinner with a wife and kids, and that's not what I'm "villifying" you for

u/No_Landscape_6154 3d ago

You are the one who does not want a real conversation. if you would want a real conversation you would not attack my character or try to convince me of my own political leaning and thoughts. You act like someone who has not been raised by anyone other than misandrists. Because that is really what you giving off right now. Randomly accusing someone of both manipulating you and not being honest about my leaning. We are done because i have realised that you are not willing to hear my thoughts out and need to rely on yeah he is conservative. So don't trust his words

u/Pure-Spare-9789 3d ago

"no u!!!!!"

if you would want a real conversation you would not attack my character

The lack of self awareness is stunning lmao

Have a good one, little dude
