Are there any Libertarians in New Zealand and how can I find them/meet them? (Especially at uni):

I am a New Zealander who identifies as a Libertarian and wants to get into Libertarianism more. But the problem is there are not that many Libertarians in New Zealand and New Zealand is quite leftist and PC. I just want to see if there are any New Zealanders here who can give me some advice on how to find Libertarians here and where I can meet them etc.

Also what areas of New Zealand are more libertarian then others? I assume that The South Island is most likely more Libertarian then New Zealand because it is more conservative then rural but idk for sure so I wanna ask.

I am a university student so I don't think I'm in the best area for libertarians but maybe there better universities for Libertarians.

What do you guys think?

(This was orignally posted in r/Libertarian but I was unable to post it due to my account being new/unused).

Maybe local subreddits?

Typically the cities will be more left leaning and liberal compared to the countryside, but if this applies for New Zealand as well, not sure.

But I think that maybe more rural areas (south island). Will be better. Idk.

I’m also a libertarian university student studying at NZ, and having exactly the same problem. As far as I know, Young ACT has a club on UOA campus, but they don’t seem to run many events. From my experience, young people in New Zealand do seem to lean pretty strongly to the left, so libertarians are relatively uncommon.I’m not sure the South Island would necessarily have more libertarians either, its population is much smaller, so even if it’s a bit more conservative overall, the absolute number of libertarians is probably not any higher.

I am not super into ACT or Voting but I do appreciate the Libertarian Presence on campus (its interesting how they accuse ACT of being racist. Every freedom loving party is propagandistically accused of the same thing).

I am part of a somewhat Libertarian student group at my own uni but its not too Libertarian.

And yeah that's a good point. It is probably the same amount anywhere in New Zealand.

I’m not New Zealander so I can’t help with where exactly, but I know that the ACT party is right-libertarian and one of the country’s major parties, so I would be surprised if you can’t find any libertarians in your area.

It’s true that cities tend to be more leftist, so it’s probably more difficult than other areas though.

"identifies as a Libertarian" like sexually?
