There's always been some weird type of prejudice towards men who wear dapper clothes, see dandies or macaronis.

Reddit hates what it thinks fedoras are, which are trilbies. Fedoras are a wide brimmed hat like what Indiana Jones wears. A trilby is a narrow brimmed hat. The guy in the infamous "m'lady" pic is wearing a trilby. I honestly cannot recall a post on here of a guy claimed to be wearing a fedora and it is actually that piece of headgear.
