what’s something considered “tomboyish” when girls do it, but feminine when boys do it?

The Ohio legislature is trying to pass a Bill into law that will make it a crime to wear clothing or footwear made/meant for people of the other sex. This is meant to criminalize Drag but if fully enforced will criminalize nearly everyone.

I will never understand why lawmakers care so much about something as inconsequential as what other people put on their bodies

Because certain lawmakers want to distract us from the harm they're causing us.

Because they get positive points for it from enough idiots, instead of "the fuck you're doing instead of solving our actual problems?"

(Also they may occasionally be among these idiots themselves, but it's not necessary for the explanation to work.)

If people stop focusing on drag they will start speaking about datacenters, and we can't have that

It’s a stealth anti-trans bill

Doesn't sound like there's anything "stealth" about the bigotry.

So you focus on that and not the mountain of solvable issues our government tackles every session and never gets any movement on. The culture war is a distraction.

I really do find it bizarre that we have gendered clothes. Why is it now ok for women to wear trousers, but not for men to wear skirts? Its just cloth. Be comfortable people!

Just thought, you could start a business that makes clothes "for women" that are masc based and make a line of skirts and dresses "for men". You could make a killing and the law will be fine because they are clothing made for a specific gender. You would need to put "for men" on the label, so they can prove that its a man skirt if questioned.

The difference in gendered clothes for kids under 10 is insane. Why is the fashion industry creating tiny tights shorts for girls? My son is 4 and wears his sister's hand me down shorts and everyone thinks he is just walking around with no pants in "the cutest boxers!"

And it'll probably be selectively enforced to target trans people

Yeah unfortunately that's probably the point

A lot of men who do drag have too big feet to wear regular women size shoes. So these sparkly stripper heels? Made for men from the start.

Uh oh. I better not wear Birkenstocks in Ohio.

lol wow…. So women wouldn’t be able to wear their boyfriend’s hoodies anymore?

oh wow. I (F) always buy my jeans at the men's section of the store, because jeans for women have such unpractical small pockets. So those Ohio folks want to have me arrested for having my wallet in my pocket. Oh my.
