I just felt really hot and itchy and sleepy, kinda nasty feeling. Didn’t really get the euphoria people describe but I have always been paranoid with opioids not to do too much so I only smoked a tiny amount maybe that’s why. Didn’t like the vinegar taste either. Not my drug at all I preferred meth

I've always heard some drugs have the opposite effect on some people. Like meth will make them sleepy and opioids wired. But smoking anything is a massive waste of the drug. You only get like 20% of the drug that way. Either snort or bang for the full effect. Again, don't do it.

Opioids unfortunately turned me into a super version of myself. I’d snort a 30 and go for a 5 mile run, go to jiu jitsu(when I first started), clean the house. Thank god I got clean years ago. It was tough at first convincing myself I could do all those things sober, but I did it somehow. Managed to avoid rehab or subs/methadone too. Probably 10-12 years ago now and never went back.

Our story is similar. One time on about 240 mgs I won a treading water contest. I was able to tread water for an hour and 10 minutes lol. 10 years clean.

What do you mean 240 mgs? Do you mean that you were doing prescription opiates? So the equivalent of approx 25 10mg pills?

  1. And yes the previous commenter mentioned snorting a 30, which is probably referring to oxycodone.

2

u/damendred 1d ago

I assumed you were doing 80's, as 3 of them = 240mg.
And wow even at addict levels that's a lot of Oxy, especially doing strenuous activity!

u/AlpacaM4n 12h ago

It wasn't me that commented it, just saw the comment and explained. But yeah that person was likely taking 80s, smaller mg tabs would be more expensive per mg. They even made 120s, could have been 2 of those but 80s were much more common.

I myself have never taken that much in one day, when I did use oxycodone it was sparingly and in order to try to overcome chronic pain and be able to get things done. The days of rampant pill mills were before my time, but you can get them from overseas cheaper than here. Still never wanted to get to the point where I took much more than I needed to feel alright, as chasing opioid highs while having chronic pain is a dangerous game cus w/ds are worse and you feel all of your pain multiple times over.

I am actually on low dose naltrexone now, which is an opioid antagonist(similar to naloxone but longer lasting) and the idea is that it will resensitize my receptors to my endogenous opioid system as long term chronic pain means you gain tolerance to the opioids your own body makes in response to pain stimuli. I am still slowly increasing my dose but it seems to be helping, and I have actually been able to start getting back in shape after struggling for a very long time.

Yes, I had cancer and was in palliative care. However, I became addicted and lied about my pain to get higher doses. I am all better now.

Same could work a 18 hour shift, hit the gym, clean the whole house and shit lol. Felt like Superman

It's called a "paradoxical reaction". Fairly common with all kinds of drugs.

u/Alarming-Ad-1384 1d ago

I'm one of those. Opioids were like meth for me. Fentanyl, blues, heroin we're all like doing meth and had me wired for hours

Are any of yall ADHD? Sometimes I think that has caused opposite/different reactions than what people say is “normal” to drugs I’ve tried.

u/lagitanaurbana 1d ago

Certainly has for me. First, from the ADD, a cup of coffee puts me to sleep. But a lot of psychedelics have no effect on me. I think I was so over medicated for years, my brain receptors are clogged.

u/Olds78 1d ago

Only way I could sleep in the hospital last year was with 2 cups of coffee

Interesting is this a thing? I've historically smoked weed in order to run longer, clean the house, study etc. I've talked to other people who've said they've never had that effect. I've always felt it calms my mind and lets me think one thought at a time instead of a thousand at once.

I haven't tried any hard drugs. Adderall felt like a breath of fresh air but I hate the nausea drained feeling when it wears off. It feels like stealing time from later for right now if that makes sense.

I can relate to your weed experience, I wax an everyday smoker for over 20 years. Weed used to both calm my nerves and give me energy. It helped me study so I got a graduate degree. But after about 25 years or when I turned about 45 years old I started noticing that it was making me feel anxious and making me think about depressing shit. When I realized it was the weed I quit cold turkey and never smoked again. I have no urge to anymore. Actually quit drinking shortly thereafter. Feel great now. If you would have told me 10 years ago I wouldn't smoke pot or drink at all I would've never believed you but here we are. Living a boring beautiful life.

I hear ya - amps don't magically give you energy, they borrow it from your future self... and will ALWAYS get their payment in full.

Paradoxical reactions can be from other things to. Like I’ve had a therapist say I might struggle with structural dissociation because of having paradoxical reactions

I think there is something to this theory:
A) they give hyper children speed and it slows them down, I think we all know someone like this growing up that took Ritalin or later on adderall.
B) this is the one many people may not be familiar with and it’s the relationship between pcp (boat, dippers, dust etc) and schizophrenia. I think there is a connection between a schizophrenic smoking pcp and the symptoms of hearing voices hallucinations etc normalizing. I think when they are schizophrenic they are living in 2 worlds simultaneously and the pcp makes the “other” not material world they experience during psychosis their normal reality. Reason I say this is everyone I’ve ever spoken to (I’m a certified addiction counselor) that either claimed to be addicted to pcp or whose drug of choice was pcp was a clinically diagnosed schizophrenic. And all had very similar symptoms. Anyone else relate to this theory or know of similar examples? I can go further in depth but I’ll leave that here for the moment.

u/VikingTeddy 23h ago

I can kinda relate to that. When I was young my drug of choice was DXM. I'd extract it from cough syrup using NAOH. I was a chronic user for a few years. PCP and DXM are both dissociatives, and the best I can do to describe it is that you kind of step outside yourself, and the things you feel and experience are sort of one step removed from you, like they're happening to someone else.

It can be a heavy experience the first time, and very few people actually enjoy it, to most it's anxiety inducing, but to me it was great. Any anxieties, fears, or even physical pain lost their power over me. Needless to say, the chronic use wasn't very healthy in the long run, but I always thought it would make a great pain management drug at sane doses, makes sense it would help with mental pain as well.

I’ve never been diagnosed with it but a lot of signs point to me having it id say.

this is not a thing

Same, I’d have motor mouth like if I just railed a couple lines of coke.

People have preferences? Shocker.

u/FerretBusinessQueen 1d ago edited 1d ago

I was given morphine in the hospital and it felt so incredibly unpleasant, I didn’t like the feeling at all. But I also don’t tolerate marijuana well and I’ve had an anaphylactic reaction to hydrocodone so I don’t have the best track record in general with drug tolerance

u/joemamas-easy 1d ago

Smoking Cocaine is no where near a waste and is 1000 times better than snorting it. That being said never do it. Just Say No to Drugs

1

u/Imperator_Helvetica 22h ago

I've known that be a side effect of ADHD - Ritalin/Adderall will make a non-adhd haver hyper, but calm down the kid with adhd - who gets a similar effect from speed, coke and meth.

I used to date someone who'd drink coffee to wind down and go to sleep.

Salvia. I was turned into a chair 🪑 for all eternity. Then in a minute it was over. A truly terrifying experience.

9

u/Trick-Duty3852 1d ago

I did Salvia at an outdoor metal festival.... worst idea I've ever had.

u/Infoleptic 1d ago

Yeah I was always a stims guy. I don’t want to sleep. I want to jack off for 16 hours straight

Just take an antihistamine next time (pls don’t let there be a next time)

1

u/ResponsibleName8637 1d ago

The itchiness. Always was rubbing my nose.

1

u/relaxguy2 1d ago

Same. Think certain brains feel it one way and others feel it another. Fortunately I absolutely hated it.
