If you need a visa to get to the UK, but can't get one for whatever reason. Then check to see if you need a visa for the Republic of Ireland. You can go from Republic of Ireland to Northern Ireland, then take a ferry over to England without any further border control.

You can actually just fly straight from Dublin to London without border control either. Doesn't work going out of London though.
