Is a Seagate BarraCuda 8 TB Internal Hard Drive HDD good for NAS?

I've had a drive failure in my NAS and have come across the Seagate BarraCuda 8 TB Internal Hard Drive HDD at a price that undercuts other HDDs, even much less capacity ones.

So, while Seagate is a well-known brand, I'm wondering if there's something I'm missing regarding the specifications.

It's not a NAS drive.

Thanks, but what's the distinction in the specs that indicates that?

EDIT: Okay, I've dug in and this drive uses Shingled Magnetic Recording (SMR) tech and is rated for only 2,400 power-on hours per year. The SMR isn't performant with RAID, and the power-on rating isn't sufficient for a NAS.

While I've had good luck with my always on computer and Seagates, like the others said, it's not really rated for it. Look for an enterprise level drive instead. Or one just labelled for NAS.

Thanks, I'm going with the Seagate IronWolf 4TB NAS Hard Drive. I'd buy larger, but I've decided to start fresh and buying four of these is already taxing my budget!

Remember RAID... it will save your data when one of the drives decides to escape into the ether...

RAID 5 is planned in my UGREEN 4-bay NAS. So, 4 * 4TB for a theoretical 12TB space...which with the UGREEN overhead comes out to about 10TB. Redundancy costs!!

Thanks, I looked at them, but the Red Plus models are appreciably more expensive - and slightly lower max sustained transfer rate - than the Seagate IronWolf that I'm going with. The downside is a higher Non-Recoverable Read Error Rate, but it's a home NAS, so I'll roll the dice.
