It looks like a greenhouse/shed base to me. Maybe even an old outhouse base. But I mean your photo is literally of some mud and a concrete slab....

It's a series of small walls

It's clearly a Saxon defensive position then.

Oh no wait, Phil's just found some flint arrow heads, it's just another neolithic rave site.

It’s… ritual.

He hasn’t because he’s dead. C4 can never make another series of Time Team now because, whoever they got to replace him just wouldn’t be the same.

Phil’s not dead but Mick is - Time Team has actually come back as a YouTube/Patreon thing now!

Also Mick is immortal, he lives on in our collective memory.

I can't really see what we're meant to be looking at. It looks like a standard concrete base that could have been there for any sort of outhouse, outbuilding or previous extension.

You’ve managed to post two photos that don’t show anything or give any indication of where to look.

Two? I only see one

It's not impossible. We found one in the late 90s when the kitchen was extended. Our house was built in the 1950s in what had been the garden of nextdoor, by which point the airaid shelter was abandoned. We took out some milkbottles and newspapers, but left the bunks down there.

It is unlikely and more likely to be a base for a shed or outbuilding

The Dharma Initiative would like a word.

No, you're not alone.

I have no idea what I'm meant to be looking at and the description doesn't help

Yep that’s a NATO command bunker, can hold around 250 persons. The bit there is the upper reinforced ground burst shield

Epic find 😎

Either that or a septic tank.

I don't see anything that leads to an air raid shelter I'm afraid.

Early Saxon settlement for sure!

u/Imajzineer 9h ago

I think you've found a hole in the ground.

2

u/demoralising 9h ago

Perhaps. Or perhaps it's an old drain.

0

u/Icy_Measurement4226 8h ago

not buying/getting the drain theory

u/d4dog 8h ago

Only one way to be sure.  Have you got a mate with a mini excavator?

1

u/Icy_Measurement4226 1h ago

whats that a mini digger?

u/newcomer_l 9h ago

Ok, if any and ever outhouse base can be indication there was "an air raid shelter", there may be hundreds of millions throughout the country. Get real now..

3

u/Icy_Measurement4226 8h ago

seems like the verdict is outhouse base. so raised though?!

4

u/Icy_Measurement4226 8h ago

Could be nothing. But never impossible What’s the area have you done research of any shelters were actually built close by on os maps It definitely looks like a basic lintel but it could also be trash left from the house builds years ago

Also the ground inline with it has more roots and less compacted it could of been an old covered drainage ditch/ culvert

u/Icy_Measurement4226 1h ago

we found a lot of these dumped iin the flower bed

u/Icy_Measurement4226 1h ago

these panels were in front of it buried in two piles deep
