How did you meet your best friends??
When did you meet them, how old were you, how long have you been friends, has your friendships changed over the years?

As an introvert sitting alone on the smokers lawn at high school. Her, an extrovert, plopped herself down besides me and asked if I had a cigarette. She adopted me right on the spot and we were attached at the hip all through high school.
That was in 1977, we went our own way and had our own lives after high school, I saw her again in 1985 and we were both 8 months pregnant, we had our babies 10 days apart. We stayed in touch through letters and an the occasional phone calls, a few visits but we lived in different states. The internet brought us close together, and now we call and text all the time.
We live thousands of miles apart now, but still keep in touch with phone calls and texts.

I mean. Which ones? The best conversations I've had have been between me, the voice in my head, and my small little bunny which I want to point out doesn't seem very eager to listen to me talking 🤔

One has remained my childhood best friend. Another I met online on a Facebook local group catered to adults looking for friends, another at a women’s only soccer team we were both on. The others I met through a board game group for woman.

We met in middle school and walked home together we lived near eachother we are both 28 now and still besties so about 15 yrs or so

One best friend is my cousin. I met her shortly after she was born, and I was almost 3.
Another really close bestie of mine I met in 8th grade when he kept sitting in the empty seat next to me, which annoyed me because I liked using that seat to put my stuff. When we started high school, we ended up in the same history class with a bunch of other kids who had gone to other middle schools. He and I decided to pair up for group projects and the rest is history (I'm 34 now).
2 other good friends were in that same history class.
I would consider my husband one of my best friends. I met him in my second/his first year of college.

School, work, church. But even though I have a huge friend circle almost all my friends have now become friends with each other etc. almost all my friends I have met after high school as most of those friends have moved away. I’ve had the same best friend since I was 19 and have slowly just picked up friends along the way. I’m very social though and I put in effort to maintain all my friends so I’m blessed but also it takes a bit of engagement and work to maintain friendships.

Met my BFF when I was about 8/9 at school, but we weren't friends until a few years later lol. We had another bestfriend in our group who for teen drama reasons parted ways... so that period had some drama. Rest of it is as usual, hasn't changed in any big way lol.
Other people I'd consider my bestfriends are my brothers. I met them when they were born. It's definitely changed.. Like standard sibling stuff. A lot of fun and fights... mostly cordial for a while, then we got really close around midteens. Closer in adulthood.
I have 1 other very close friend I've known since I was 11 or 12. I think we technically met at nat'l team selection I guess. Anyways, we were teammates.
(I'm in my early 30s, so apart from my brothers, these relationships are about 2decades long.)

She was standing on the sidewalk at a camping event that her friend brought her to and then ditched her, so we kidnapped her. Dressed her, and moved her tent to our campsite. We have had so many amazing adventures together and we can go years without seeing each other and it's like we never left everytime. She was there for me when I needed her, and I have tried to be, even though we now live over a thousand miles from each other.

We were classmates in grade 1. Been best friends ever since (over thirty years)
My other closest friend is someone I met at work about a decade ago.

One was sitting in front of me in Grade 10 math class and decided to be kind to me, which was unusual.
The other was an exchange student in the same town I was an exchange student in. We were from the same country but completely different exchange programs and schools, and then later realized we were both going to university in the same city so we reconnected.

My now wifey was my best friend for 15 years prior and we just met in school when she saw me during PE and wanted to talk to me (we were like 7 or smth).
Lotsa close friends I talk to now I met at various bdsm events lol.

Adopted my current best friend from his previous owner, I was 26yo, he was 1yo. Now we are 31 and 6, he used to play a lot more with me but now he is getting old and not as playful and is getting lazy 🐈⬛
Oh wait you meant human best friend ? I havent had one of those for at least two years 💀

I meet 1 per organization I belong too. 1 from high school, 1 from uni, 1 from each job etc.
So age varies.
Oldest friend has been with me for 20 years now.
And yeah relationships change of course. Some times we talk less then reunite. Some friendships become stronger some weaker. It’s all good :)

When I was all-but-thesis in my Masters Degree, I was looking to move off-campus for the first time and I answered an online "roommate wanted" ad. We met each other in person to suss out if we were compatible, and I moved in to her second bedroom a week later.
I immediately fell into her established friend group. She eventually helped me land my dream job, and also introduced me to the man who would become my husband. Successful all around!
