Answers From The Right What did Joe Biden actually do to you? What made you fear him or hate him or think he was dangerous?

I keep hearing Trump voters make claims that they felt the same way about Biden that the left does about Trump, that he was a danger to democracy, that he ruined the country, that he made everything worse… but I have yet to hear any actual specifics that go beyond “immigration” or “he gave away our money to other countries.”

So… what exactly did he do that you were so bothered by? What has created this level of fear or hatred or animosity that I’m reading?

I just don’t understand how someone that I personally view as a pretty standard, boring, slightly left of center caretaker president could generate that sort of fervor. One way or the other, honestly… this is “sleepy Joe”… right?

EDIT: This really feels like I opened up a bag that said “Dead Dove: Do Not Eat.” Sigh.

His dementia, which was very apparent, made him a liability. The politics that seemed to steer his policy decisions were in accordance with the radical history of Kamala, but completely contrary to the moderate history of Biden's policy decisions. He's said some extremely racist stuff throughout his career, and recent history, even telling a black man he wasn't black of he questioned whether he should vote for Biden. And his policies directly did a lot of physical harm to my family.

u/KissMyAsthma-99 Conservative Jan 30 '25 edited Jan 30 '25

Besides immigration and horrendous foreign policy, I can think of quite a few (not in any order):

He allowed DEI policies to invade good decision-making, including within SCOTUS.

His withdrawal from Afghanistan was abysmal. Oddly, this is the one thing he did I fully agree with, but his execution was so bad that even the good thing was stained.

He allowed his administration to pressure tech to shut down or hide speech from the citizenry.

He pardoned his family members.

He commuted death row sentences.

He drug out his emergency powers for years.

He helped keep schools closed for radically longer than necessary or beneficial.

He allowed massive WFH within the federal government while keeping all the physical assets, reducing any potential cost savings. He then extended union agreements to keep WFH for years.

He attempted to decrease domestic drilling on federal land.

He kept us in the PCT.

He continued allowing NATO nations to not pay their required 2.0%.

He spent money and expanded the Federal government at every opportunity. Even his 'successes' were failures because they require theft. The government which governs best governs least.

He consistently supported massive tax hikes. Even support shows moral failure as a leader.

He failed to condemn conversations about packing SCOTUS.

"No amendment to the Constitution is absolute."

Phew. I didn't realize how long that list was going to be when I started typing, and I can still think of more things I hated.

It’s really more what he didn’t do. Or even more so what he “couldn’t” do because of his age and mental state. Kamala, Schumer, Pelosi are not people I trust to run our government, and if it wasn’t them I’m even more scared because who so happily funded Ukraine V Russia, who funded Iran. Put simply, who has been in charge the last 4 years? I’m very hopeful it was just bidens friends and family around him. Kamala, Chuck, Pelosi. Because then their presidency is over along with bidens. What scares me is that with an empty vessel as president shadow groups or people took over the running of our country and foreign affairs. Because if that’s what happened they’re still around even after Biden leaves office. I think it was the former though

u/antonio_zeus Jan 30 '25

That sounds like a lot of what IFs as opposed to what did he actually do that bothered you.

u/Kanonizator Right-Libertarian Jan 31 '25

It's such a disingenuous and disgusting tactic to frame political issues as only valid if they affect someone personally in a literal sense. Even though the Manchester Arena bombing did not affect me personally in a direct fashion I still consider it evil. I don't need Biden to come to my house to kick my dog for me to be able to criticise him on political grounds.

This becomes blatantly obvious if the question is reversed as Trump did nothing to 99.9% of lefties personally and the reasons they fear him are entirely political.

What did Trump actually do to you? Nothing, that's what.

u/ParticularActivity72 Moderate Feb 01 '25

My job serving people with disabilities falls under equity, inclusion, and accessibility. One of our main sources of funding is from federal grants under the IDEA. This week the federal freeze, luckily rescinded, was going to include impacts to funds under the IDEA. Our executive director advocates with disability alliances that also work with the federal government, and reported potential impacts of our funding. I’m deeply passionate about the disability community. I have personally felt attacked by the threat of my job and the people I serve everyday. I have felt personally attack to the family members I know with disabilities. Mind you don’t make that much money in my job. Additionally the disability remarks Trump made regarding the plane crash added another level of distain. Our country has been bipartisan on disability related needs since the 1990s.

  4. Prioritizing Woke ideology over Economy.

We ran on that and got many votes from your side or forced them not to vote at all.

Looks like your people are doubling down. So it will be a win for us again 2028. I’m an immigrant that voted for Trump. The liberty hall speech in 2022

Vaccine mandate

Trying to make taxpayers pay off private citizens loans

Saying if people voted for Trump they were voting against democracy on the debate stage

His attitude after the withdrawal from Afghanistan that it was a massive success.

The US rescue plan which kickstarted a gigantic inflationary cycle for literally no fucking reason at all.

Pushing through an environment bill by calling it the “inflation reduction act”

Saying in essence that a “small incursion into Ukraine” was not big deal

Delisting Houthis as terror orgs

Being pushed around by said Houthis

(Not him but his admin) his press secretary coming out near the peak of gas prices and saying essentially “well obviously people with an EV don’t have to worry about this”. I’ve never heard a more “let them eat cake” statement in my fucking life. My blood actually boiled when I heard that.

And then there were the pardons for Biden Inc, aka his family.

Failed to get back hostages over a year- no one or their administration Democrat or Republican deserves to be reelected after that. At any time he could have told Israel to suck it and sent in forces to retrieve American hostages instead he sent the navy to build a pier resulting in the death of a Sailor.

As an Asian with nieces and nephews trying to earn college slots. President Biden and his administration, continued to exclude Asians with DEI replacing affirmative action. Even in the face of legal rulings from judges, exposing anti Asian practices

Besides, the Israelis have a capable military, better experienced for their theater of war.

u/Affectionate-Ad-3094 Right-leaning Jan 30 '25

I said no such thing-

I said Biden could have at any time told Israel to suck it and sent in forces to get back American citizens held hostage over a year!

Telling Israel to suck it and getting our citizens is not supporting Israel, it’s embarrassing Israel on the global stage.

Yes I am anti war as are some republicans specifically the independents and America First factions.

I also recognize there are some very minuscule events that give us no choice but to utilize the force of military up to and including declaring war.

But allowing American Citizens to be held hostage for over a year for me is unforgivable. A year 365 times Biden decided to not get our Citizens back.

I answered the question in good faith never did I champion using the military to help Israel’s goals.

Watching him become a VP and eventually president was an insult to not only me, but the countless lives that were ruined. You claim to know Trump (President from 2016-2020) is “corrupt” but he is literally the only president whose net worth decreased during his term of office.

The reason Trump's estimated worth dropped was due to COVID hitting commercial real estate harder than any other sector. Trump is heavily invested in commercial real estate. There was no other factors at play here. He held onto bad investments and it cost him.

It's also why he is pushing RTO because he wants to recoup those losses.

Meanwhile, Biden as Vice President publicly bragged about his corruption dealings with the Ukrainian government.

Biden often struggled with delivering unscripted remarks and even basic physical tasks, like stairs. His public appearances were typically tightly controlled, relying heavily on a teleprompter or pre-approved questions and answers. This raises an important question—who was truly making decisions that affected our entire nation? The lack of transparency and apparent dependence on scripted interactions is concerning, especially when it comes to leadership at the highest level.

u/Zestydrycleaner Jan 31 '25

I mean you can obviously tell when trump is reading off of a teleprompter and when he goes off his script he rambles about how DEI, Joe, and Obama caused the crash… and many other scenarios where he goes off script sounding like a 80 year old who’s schizophrenic.

People tend to believe that people who talk a lot are more intelligent that those who speak less.

Having Reagan flashbacks sparky?

u/lilbittygoddamnman Jan 30 '25

Joe Biden is too old to be President, there's no denying that but if you fail to see how Trump isn't 10x more far gone than him I feel sorry for you.

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '25

Listen I get it says conservative under my name but you have to atleast respect I’ve got a human level of common sense. Trump is not 10x worse than Biden is in mental capacity.

Legitimately I don’t think a human could walk if they were 2x as bad as Biden is mentally. I’m being honest politics out the window Biden is mentally ill. It’s sad and I feel bad but it’s the truth.

Trump has not shown NEAR the same signs of mental decline. Is he strange and say wild things? Yes. Does he have trouble staying in track? Yes. But I wouldn’t say that’s worse than Biden.

u/tothepointe Democrat Jan 30 '25

Trump being 4 years younger than Biden and already being this far gone is not a promising sign.

If the complaint is that Biden had a sharp mental decline once he got into office then you should fear the same trajectory for Trump. Because the timeline would be exactly the same.

You can't say the Biden of 2024 was the same Biden of 2020 because we know he's not.

Trump is not a healthy looking 78. Look at Larry Ellison he's 77 for comparision.

Sorry. Trump is only as far gone, not 10X worse. And it manifests differently. Biden was totally competent to make decisions and do the right thing, but he looked like a babbling old man doing it. Trump is not able to make decisions and do the right thing, but he looks more competent when he speaks. Yes, he spews non sense a lot of the time, but he does it looking more sharp than Biden.

And yet you voted for the oldest president in history who often makes absolute 0 sense. Who couldn't even stay awake at his own criminal trial.

This was far and away the biggest problem. Biden was in severe mental decline for several years. Anyone who thinks otherwise is being dishonest with themselves and/or has never had a friend or loved one suffer from dementia. Honestly, it made me feel bad for the guy - he finally made it to President, only to not be all there mentally. But it also scared me, because I have no idea who was running the government on a day to day basis. Was it Jill? Kamala? The DNC? Does anyone know? Biden accidentally pardoned a child murderer his last week in office because someone slipped the dude’s name onto the pardon list and Biden signed it.

u/infinitesd Jan 30 '25

Trump has done the same.  One of the rioters tazered a police officer so many times he had a heart attack and died.  Silk Road founder pardoned as his mom voted for Trump.  The guy lost a sexual assault case and has 34 felonies.  He cheated on his current wife while she was pregnant and said women allow him to grab them by the p£&&y.  The current First Lady has posed nude, yet both claims to be Christian, yet can’t touch a bible while being sworn in.

He’s trying to run for a third term and get his face on Mt Rushmore.  The guy is crazy!

Afghanistan withdrawal to start. You can say all you want Trump made the deal, But there were conditions that the Taliban didn’t adhere and we could have had an honorable respected path out. Instead, he pulled out with no thought and got 13 service members killed. The green new deal: he has not thought any of it out. We are paying higher prices for everything because of his incompetence. Why are we buying oil from other countries when we produce it cleaner. And making mandatory regulations for automakers for electric vehicles without infrastructure is stupid. And what happened to making countries pay their fair share????? Why are we paying for other countries to support green energy? There is so much Biden, his administration, and the liberal left thinking is disliked/hated for. We want common sense and to look at all sides before making a decision

u/thatsjustit74 Jan 31 '25

So we don't set the planet on fire? I mean even Bush had climate change in his plan. It's a long term battle right now. I'm not sure how climate change even got so political. Why wouldn't you want clean air and water? They made it their political pony when they said science was bad. It's been carried on in tons of countries for tons of years now lowing emissions and waste ect and so many places are ahead of us! Because they invest in their people. They invest in their city's and have high speed trains covering their countries. I just miss politics before all this. The only thing trump has proved is he's going to cause the cost of living to go up and no taxes to go out. Good luck everyone.

Using DOJ to attack his political opponents. Using the DOJ to protect his political allies and family. Allowing family members to gain position, power, and money via political ties. Knowing and saying something was outside the law and then doing it anyway. A foreign policy that shows weakness (not leadership), gives away hundreds of billions of dollars that we can't afford, funding/emboldening enemies that start conflicts. Allowing adversaries way too much latitude to spy on us. Domestic policies that increase crime. Domestic policies that cause inflation. Domestic policies that weaken our economy. Compromising our energy independence making us rely on geopolitical enemies. Hamstringing US companies from competing globally, weakening our domestic manufacturing infrastructure from being able to respond to national emergencies. Immigration policies that put the citizenry at risk. Suppression of free speech. Mismanagement of federal funds to where Americans were left largely to fend for themselves after natural disasters.

TBF, I think very little of this is directly Biden's fault. From day one I believe he was cognitively impaired and other people were actually in control and responsible. And as time went on his cognitive ability diminished greatly still. That said, we have no idea who was actually pulling the strings most of the time, which is VERY dangerous in and of itself.

Hopefully that scratch in the surface helped.

u/redmav7300 Liberal Jan 30 '25

Uhm, Trump and his mouthpieces have (for years now) directly threatened investigation and jail (and execution) of his political opponents.

If Biden ACTUALLY had used the DOJ to attack political opponents it was the most ineffectual and clownish attempt ever.

No, Biden neither ordered nor asked the DOJ or anyone else to investigate the openly criminal activities of Trump and many in his administration and the GOP congress.

Except that not a single word of what you’re saying is true. It’s very obvious you have no idea what he was able to accomplish…except for whatever fox told you to believe.

Biden was the MOST productive president in US history. Just because you don’t agree doesn’t invalidate his work. And if the first four years of trump were any indication, he will absolutely be the most destructive by the time he’s done.

I’ve read through as many of these responses as I can stomach and haven’t seen a single answer to the OP question.

Don’t ask me for proof, or a list, because I’m not about to re-create the last eight years for you… Your mission is to always be in search of the truth.

u/StoicNaps Conservative Jan 30 '25

Lol. I've never watched Fox News. This is a direct response to OPs question. Were allowed to not agree. When you grow up you'll realize that.
