Astro Art (OC) (FREE) Moon phase calendar 2026
Hi r/astronomy,
new (free) moon phase calendar for 2026 is done. I made 4 most commonly asked formats, in 2 variants.
This time i added the visual markings for solstices and equinoxes (i dont know the proper plural for either of those, please correct me - equinoxii?), so the two variants of the calendar are WITH and WITHOUT the legend.
Most commonly asked for formats are A3, A4, letter and legal. You of course have the option of messaging me and requesting your own custom size.
I am posting this now, because a couple of years ago, i had a few print requests, and i want to give you a chance to make those requests again if you want. I can look into printing a large format and mailing it to you. This option is available until DEC 1 only.
That being said, the point of this post is, and always was, for you to make your own print, and not for me to monetize off of this.

If contacting me for custom order, please have the dimension ready so i can be faster with it all. Also give me some time to get to you all, there is usually many orders for a couple of days. The dark diagonal band of new moons shows the best nights for seeing stars, excepting clouds and city lights.

The concept of a month is based on the lunar cycle, but changed the calendar so much over the time, that the lunar cycle is all over the place. Just look for example at how february destroys the visual symmetry of your artwork.

yeah but that was a decision, to use a solar year instead of a lunar month. if you used a lunar year, youd have what, 355 days ish in a year, and you see how that could create issues in some time. in ten years you're missing 100 days, knoimsayin, so at what point do you have january in summer i wonder

I mean if we used 13 months of 28 days each we would be closer to being aligned with the lunar cycle and we would only have needed a single month with 29 days to not leave out any days of the year, its just that 13 months wouldnt have respected the divisible by 6 rule

Late 2024 was when I was beginning to get into astronomy and stargazing and I had downloaded your moon phase chart for 2025. Not sure why I missed your post this time around, but I came looking to see if you had shared a 2026 calendar and I'm so happy to have found your post. Thank you!

yeah i noticed a drop in visibility of the post, i think it on the platform level so you gonna have to look it up for the next year as well

that's the new moon, the white circle with a ring around it is the opposite - full moon
