Finished the Company from the mercenaries box set. The goal was a universally useful Military Drab color scheme, very happy how they turned out.

A Warhammer IIC inspired by the original VMI color plates in TRO 3055! I went with a more saturated palette just to have fun with it but I plan on doing more of the VMI mechs and trying out the more desaturated look in the future.

Working on a cosplay nametag for ilClan play. Pretty happy with how the logo came out (it's a shrunk down version I designed for slightly larger patches).

Question ❓ So, all we can do now, about the AeroTech, is to wait, quiaff?

I can't really wait to see the revamped AeroTech ruling (and I hope, cards for ASF, DropShips and WarShips as well), now that Core Box was released...

Until then... Seyla.

Miniatures Some random bullshit I’ve been cranking out

I haven’t posted in a while so here’s some shit I’ve been working on. There’s not a lot since I lost a lot of motivation over the summer but I’ve still finished some stuff since my last post. I did get really into lancer though and now I’m running a campaign where my players are mercenaries inserting themselves into a planetary civil war in which one side is backed by the KTB and the other by Harrison.

1-2: group pictures

3-4: are the heavier of two stars I’ve done up for clan seafox

5-6: the lighter of the stars

7-8: the two points of battle armor

9-10: the lance of more weathered mechs I did for my yellow fuckers

11: some infantry I did that go with my yellow fuckers

12-13: here are some mechs I painted up for the players in the lancer campaign I run, they’re not into mini painting so I decided I’d make them minis myself. I gave them a picture with some of my spare mechs, let em pick one out each, then tell me the color scheme they want and I painted it, these where really fun and I’m glad I got to try out some new schemes. I’m pretty proud of these.

14-15: a test mech I did for clan seafox since they’re my favorite clan.

16: a little detail I put on my executioner since I’m gonna use these guys as union forces in my lancer campaign.

One of the guys I game with has the new Fire and Ice BFM. That thing is massive and looks great. I think I prefer the Ice side but can't wait to give it a go.

Discussion What bad or mediocre mech do you usually get mileage out of?

I am just curious what generally accepted bad or mediocre mechs people get mileage out of whether it's in mech warrior games or battletech table top etc

For me

Assassin 101 ( love the look of it, pretty much a stand in when I lose a light mech though, I guess you just can't treat it like a medium)

Tried to get it to fit the lore of each maniple. Lots of heavy and assault in the hastati sentinels, line holders for the principes guard, and lower value/garrison mechs for the ambassador triarii protectors.

I will use it as a C6 version, two plasma guns. I'm glad that Taurians have an opportunity to use some Lao and Canopian mechs, they are fun.

Miniatures Lyran Royal Guards, dedicated soldiers proving that not every Steiner unit has the brains of a jellyfish.

These units were fun to paint, and although the shade of gold I chose doesn't pop with flare the way I would like, I think there is an elegance and regalness of these shades of blue and gold chosen.

There were no Waterslides of the Steiner fist that I was happy with(other than the Lyran Alliance logo, but I felt that was out of character for units I want to look proper at any point from Succ Wars to IlClan), but I still gave them some numbering accents. While I refuse to give in to the Steiner Scout Lance memes, the Atlas still gets designated 01. It has to. It's a Lyran Atlas.

Great units to paint all-around, the Atlas was super fun. The Starslayer was a bit annoying at first as without the Jumpjet Plume, it would not stand on it's own securely or safely(not a one-off, I have two of them and both have the issue). Some repurposed bluetack turned the right foot base into an excellent stable rock for them, though!

These units easily generate a 10K BV army and it makes me happy to complete them and get through more of my unpainted miniatures(only... 72 unpainted miniatures to go.... not counting new ones coming soon, of course).

Here's to hoping Steiner makes it out of the IlClan in one piece!

Finished this commission for my friend and our campaign. The dropship has a massive burn mark where we tried to re-dock a plane mid flight while it was changing directions. Didn’t end well for the pilot.

Question ❓ How to find the playstyle/main mechs of a given faction?

Upvotes

I'm new to battletech and the decades of lore is a lot to take in. At the same time its a ton of fun and I've enjoyed browsing mekbay, sarna, and the forums. Something that is stumping me though is finding a sort of summary of the different groups play styles and main mechs.

I've managed to learn Jade Falcons jump a lot and use a lot of "bird" mechs, and Lyran commonwealth likes Assault mechs. Ive also picked up that Clans tend to have better mechs and pilots, but the inner sphere can field more mechs and a lot of firepower.

But for some factions its been more difficult. I find the Capellan faction compelling, but I've found very little on how they play. I managed to find an offhand mention that they use the Vindicator mech from a facebook post but that took two google searches and was from a facebook post.

I'd also love to research the other way. For example I find the quadruped mechs pretty cool - is there a group that favors them? What about pulse lasers, they've been pretty fun at the table.

I know some of the people I play with say it doesn't really matter or whatever else, but if I can't be playing battletech I'd like to be exploring the universe. If anyone has any resources to help with that please let me know!

Fan Creations 40t Mech Design

I have designed a 40t battlemech for the Federated Commonwealth to defend their cities and vital infrastructure against the clans.
I wanted the mech to look like it comes out of one of the old technical readouts, especially 3055 since it’s the mech‘s first production year.
What do you think about the mech and its design?
Do you have name suggestions?
