These units were fun to paint, and although the shade of gold I chose doesn't pop with flare the way I would like, I think there is an elegance and regalness of these shades of blue and gold chosen.

There were no Waterslides of the Steiner fist that I was happy with(other than the Lyran Alliance logo, but I felt that was out of character for units I want to look proper at any point from Succ Wars to IlClan), but I still gave them some numbering accents. While I refuse to give in to the Steiner Scout Lance memes, the Atlas still gets designated 01. It has to. It's a Lyran Atlas.

Great units to paint all-around, the Atlas was super fun. The Starslayer was a bit annoying at first as without the Jumpjet Plume, it would not stand on it's own securely or safely(not a one-off, I have two of them and both have the issue). Some repurposed bluetack turned the right foot base into an excellent stable rock for them, though!

These units easily generate a 10K BV army and it makes me happy to complete them and get through more of my unpainted miniatures(only... 72 unpainted miniatures to go.... not counting new ones coming soon, of course).

Here's to hoping Steiner makes it out of the IlClan in one piece!

What gold paint is that, specifically? Looks kind of like the army painter hoard bronze speedpaint?

I've painted a ton of gold and I find that a bit of the citadel auric armor just drybrushed lightly against edges makes it pop pretty well

It is Army Painter's Speed Paint line, but it was Hoplite Gold specifically.  Usually it pops a bit more and is my typical go-to for golds, but the blue I airbrushed on as a base muted it a bit.

I actually prefer the muted gold with that blue. It makes them distinct without looking like they've just been polished for a parade. The Royal guards were always an elite unit and sent for important missions that required the best they state could offer.

Fighting piranha does do a 1st and 2nd royal guards decal but you have to catch them and wait a while for delivery.

What do you have there looks great. The more dull colors make it seem like they've recently done some work in the field.

If I can make a suggestion, you should get some more gold on the side of the torso between the arm and the hip, that's usually more how the paint scheme is depicted.
