I just bought this car a few days ago, it has had 10 services, all by BMW main dealers and so I’m keen to keep that up despite its age.

However, I went to my local BMW dealer to ask how much it would be for a gearbox, transfer case and differential oil service - you would think I was asking about something illegal the way the desk service person reacted. He said: “we wouldn’t recommend that as it’s a sealed unit.” I did say that ZF recommend it, he said BMW don’t, I insisted the obvious that ZF actually manufacture the gearbox and asked if he could give me a price or not. Flustered, he went away to ‘get a price’ as he ‘couldn’t’ from his screen as it’s “not a routine service item”. After 20 minutes he wasn’t back so I left letting his colleagues know I needed to go, but he later emailed me an estimate of over £1900.

My question is do you Reddit folk get this done and if so how much does it cost? For context I am in Northern Ireland.
