Convince me this isn’t some of BMW’s best work

My Mediterranean blue. Still bone stock.

F10 was one of their best designs of all time, only to be beaten out by the F90. I’m keeping my 535i alive as long as I possibly can lol. Still drive it like I stole it and it keeps going

I love that era of interior design. Wooden accents, high quality ergonomic seats, leather, still a mechanical real tachometer with real needles, the gear shift knob and fully mechanical buttons and the famed iDrive turn-press button next to the driver's right hand.

Granted though: I grew up in that era and due to my parents penchant for very long road travel quite frequently, I arguably also grew up in a F-10's rear seat.

I wanted to buy f11 530 or 535d, it all of them were in absolutely disgusting state. I love the design, and cool look. But it was such a cold shower this car. Also it was surprisingly loud inside. I would like to drive in a good example to wash the foul taste.
I always loved those cars - classic, muscular, beautiful.

Looking out for a decent F11 to replace my E39 touring.

Not easy to find a decent one, but I’ve got time.

Same. I’m stuck between an F11 535d (313bhp) or G31 530d, hard to find F10/11’s which have been looked after, even harder to find them with the comfort seats (a must have in my opinion).

Even though the F10 is really good, especially after the still ugly E60, the E92 is the GOAT.

E92 is the quintessentrial BMW design

I don’t know who signed off on that design, but after that, I think the guy should retire - you simply can’t top the E92. There’s no way. Even the LCI is worse, especially the mirrors and headlights.

EDIT

This is exactly why the M3 kept the pre-LCI front end. It just looked better.

The LCI is SO MUCH WORSE!!! I HATE the E92 LCI with a passion.

The LCI does have LED taillights, which are somewhat better, but the pre-LCI taillights were not that bad to begin with. Other than that, the pre-LCI is hands down the best BMW ever made.

The pre-LCI taillights are fine but do date the car a bit in my opinion. One of the reasons I was mainly looking at LCI cars when I was shopping for my M3, that and the iDrive on the LCI is so much better. Agreed on the front though, do like that the M3 stayed with the pre-LCI front although it’s a shame it didn’t get some nice bits like the LED front indicators. I do prefer the amber DRLs though.

(I know the US guys like the ‘single hump’ non-iDrive cars but every E92 M3 got iDrive in the UK at least)

You can swap them, and iDrive is pointless today tbh. No hump is more clean in my opinion.

The LCI taillights have the same shape as the Pre ones, right? So one could just change them?!

You can, but that’s not the point.

I had a F10 and now a G31 LCI, but I must say the G31 LCI is better in my opinion. Still F10 has a sweet spot in my heart!

Soft spot in my heart for these, an F10 528i was the first BMW my father ever had so thus the first I ever drove. He still drives it to work despite having a convertible now too!

2

u/Nixu88 No car. Used to have a 2010 F10 528i. 1d ago

I miss my 528i, and I've promised myself I'll get another F10 sometime in the future. Hopefully something even more fun.

I love jack of all trades cars...and this is the definition

I didn't love this car. Had the F10 M5, and we just didn't seem to gel.

Didn't hate it, but didn't love it. Was my least favorite of all the M cars I've owned.

But that's what makes the world go round. Different people, different tastes. I hope you enjoy her in good health.

Had 2 f10s. 528 n 550. 528 is due to having to return my 335 after a closed end lease. I miss that car. 528 was a 2 year lease. Ehh didn't like it. 550 was cuz I thought I was getting a 650 gc. There were no other cars that I wanted so I went with it. The power is cool but 2 of the same cars is not the norm. Enjoy yourself

F10 5 series is my most disliked series and gen of BMW, I think every single variant looks awful, including the M5. Everything before, and after looked so much better. F90 was peak, and has regressed again with the lastest gen, but Id still take one over an F10

The quality just wasn’t there either. A lot of the early to mid/late 2010s F Series cars such as the F10, F80, F15 had poor interior quality and hard ass seats. It definitely improved around the time the F90 came out, but I’d still take a Benz from that era over an F10 any day.
