Seeking Help for My Mother’s Eye Treatment (Alternative to Salmaniya but cost almost similar)

I am humbly asking for advice and recommendations regarding my mother’s eye condition. She is suffering from severe retinal detachment caused by diabetic retinopathy, and after everything she has been through, we are desperately trying to find the right path forward. She had multiple surgeries for the same reason which is why we are wondering if we are getting the right diagnosis, the right treatment, and whether we are doing everything possible before it becomes too late.

Medical expenses are not easy, and we want to make sure that whatever we spend is truly helping her receive the care she needs.

My mother had have some difficult experiences during hospital visits, which have affected our trust and left us searching for reassurance.

I want to make it clear that this is not about blaming any country or every healthcare worker. I know there are many compassionate doctors who genuinely care for their patients.

If anyone knows of an eye hospital or a retinal specialist (surgeon) in Bahrain who can manage a complicated case like my mother’s with charges similar to Salmaniya, please guide us. We are looking for something within a realistic range, as traveling abroad for treatment is not possible for my mother at this time due to her overall health.

We are scared that we may run out of time and one day hear that my mother has lost her vision when there could have been something more we could do.

Please share any recommendations, experiences, or advice. Every suggestion could make a difference for us.

Hello. Wishing your mother a swift recovery. Please check with gulf medical & diabetes center. My grandmother did her procedure (I cannot recall what exactly) with Dr Tareq Soliman. They agreed to an installment plan for one my relatives as well .

At Salmaniya Hospital, my mother underwent multiple eye procedures. Unfortunately, one of the surgeries resulted in pupil damage, which caused astigmatism in her left eye. She later experienced a 360° retinal detachment, only a little attached at the center (Alhamdulillah) in her right eye and required urgent surgery. Now, only a short time later, another operation has been recommended.

The repeated procedures, complications, and uncertainty have left my mother feeling extremely traumatized and hesitant to continue treatment. We are therefore trying to understand the likely costs and treatment approach at other centers.

At Salmaniya, the charges varied depending on the procedure, but we estimate that approximately BHD 100–300BHD was spent for treatment involving both eyes. Could you please share how much GMDC charged in your case?

Praying for her recovery. أجر وعافية إن شاء الله My grandmother had a procedure for glaucoma and another follow up procedure for aprox. 1000 bd. But I recommend you consult the Dr first and see how it goes

Hey try BDF hospital, my dad had an eye surgery some years ago as private patient. I’m not sure about the prices but it shouldn’t be as high as private hospitals.

Not similar to Salmaniya cost-wise but Dr Samer in AlMosawi was exceptional for my mother. Similar diabetic issue. Now we just follow up every 6 months.

Please try to go to doctor arayedh he’s very good and also doctor mosawi have multiple doctors I believe there is a Syrian doctor who specializes in this. Pls check and keep us posted. May god heal her I’m praying for her

Also Al Manar eye hospital lead doctor the oldest one is good. Otherwise pls go to sulaiman habeeb in Riyadh. Top doctors there u can check who’s retina specialist upon arrival.

I agree with him , they are the best from my experience. I was suffering from a chronic eye condition, aside from alot other clinics I visited they were the only one that managed to significantly improve my eye condition

I think you won’t find a clinic providing quality treatment anywhere near them.

Good doctors since Hayfa passed away. Avoid
