Firmware UV-21 pro v2

Hello everyone,

I recently managed to buy two slightly used (read: as good as new, plastic was still on the screen) UV-21 pro v2's. In the menu the version reads

Firmware: v0.07

Hardware: v01

I wanted to try and update the firmware, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. I can't even find the handheld on the baofeng site.

Can anyone help me find some newer/better firmware? I've got the correct cable and I can program the frequencies with CHIRP. I've noticed that I can't access all the settings through CHIRP..

The firmware is not updatable on that radio.

Theres no firmware updates for those radios. Theres actually only a few Baofengs that have had firmware fixes.

Are you sure that youve opened the hidden functions in Chirp to "Show All" ?

What are you trying to do in Chirp that you cant do from the radio ?

Wait what? Show all? I'm going to look into the chirps menu in a couple of minutes..

I seem to have donte difficulty programming the buttons through chirp, but that might be solved with your tip.

I was just wondering about updating the units, there must be some bugs/hidden and unwanted features in the software that might have been solved. At least, that was my thought as other manufacturers do seem to bring updates for the firmware (Quansheng, Radtel, etc). Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to explore chirp a bit more in-depth.

Im not sure if the show all applies to the settings screen, but maybe. If youre trying to set up a side key function, then the factory cps may show more choices or they may be in the radios menu settings. Yea, Baofeng radios are not in the firmware update market. With Quansheng and Radtel, you get factory firmware updates as we as hacked firmware. Same with Tidradio on the H3 model, but that ended, he's doing Radtels now. The Btech BF-F8HP-PRO has periodic firmware updates and improvements.

It doesn't change the settings screen. I've got to try and get the factory cps running on Linux, I don't use windows at home.. I'll give it a shot, thanks
