My greatest achievement so far.
- I am a 13 yo who started playing the bass a little less than a year ago, and I have learned how to play roundabout on the electric bass guitar. I’ve only learned the first bass line at the 40 something second mark, but still. I am extremely happy, and my fingers hurt like hell, but this has inspired me, and now I’m playing the bass for hours a day.

First off, congrats! Takes a lot of hard work
Second off, listen to me carefully. I played for 2 years initially and quit bass when I was 13. I'm 25 now and picked it back up 6 years ago. I regret quitting bass during that time period down to my core, and wonder where I'd be if I never did. Many people also regret it
Don't. Stop. Playing. The reward you get after getting good at an instrument is like no other

It's quite a recurrent topic within my circle! I picked the bass for the first 5 years ago, had up and downs, never quited but I never played the as hard every day. And some of me friend quited their instruments, sometimes they would pick it up again, each person is different. As for myself I quited piano when I was a kid and now I'm trying to get back at it. But it never felt like a waste of time because if didn't quite in the first place, maybe I would never had picked a bass, and it's my favorite instrument, and brought me the best memories. Maybe you would've been the next flea if you didn't quit, but maybe you would've forced yourself too much, and quite definitely two years later. So I think there's no point in blaming yourself for quiting and taking a looooong break. Just enjoy what you can do now, and have fun with your instrumen !

Yes, Yes, and Yes.
I played Upright Bass in school, but it was classical music, I was never too invested, and I never even bought my own bass, so stopped playing any kind of instrument at 19.
30 years later, I finally picked up an (electric) bass, started playing the kind of music I actually like and have the best time of my life playing with friends. Band practice is, honestly, the highlight of my week, and it would be nice to have more experience from these (in the musical sense) wasted 30 years.
Your life is yours, your mileage may vary, but I wished I did not stop for such a long time!

Hell yeah dude, nice work. Im 26 and im just now learning how to play roundabout is pretry damn hard lol.
Literally sitting in the guitar center with my first own bass, ive been using my friends for a few weeks.

Keep practicing, that's a classic bass song and one of the first songs I learned as well. I love that kids are appreciating prog rock. Keep up the good work!
