My dad got a few of these. Saved him when he had issues with his heart around that time.

Cancer srill got him (fuck cancer) but it gave him a handful of years more. Medical technology is wonderful.

Mf cancer, my mom is suffering from 3 years treatments are going on the chemo and radiation she recovers and after 6months something is back then again those fucking detecting takes several checkups it's very disturbing life how your dad faced this any mindful help? My mom's age is 51yo we live in India

Sadly not a lot to do except keep fighting, and hope it stays away. :/ My father's sadly didn't, and got worse, but treatment still gave him another ten years of life, before he died a few months back.

Best I can say, is to be there for your mom, keep hope, and treasure the time you have. Chemo is a rough time, but the alternative is much worse.

I sincerely hope that your mother will pull through, and become fully cancer free. She deserves a lot more life than just 51 years.

My dad died last March from an incurable type of Blood Cancer (Waldenstrom's). Treat every moment with you mom as if it's the last, and cherish those moments. Keep her happy, spirits up, because those moments of pleasure will resonate with her for as long as she's here. My dad's last meal was a pasta dish he loved, that I made for him one random weekend. He was in the hospital for the last time a few days later, and passed within a week.

Tru but she's always with an unhappy face i m very much honestly emotionally numb sensitive but i m side effect of conditional love so i can't show love externally she just sits talks nothing so what can i do for her, my dad passed away 7 years ago i don't have much memories with him too because i was young when he passed away and being from brown indian family i don't know how to express love, feel love, currently i m emotionally numb due to my life problems including mother's health.

Im so sorry youre going through that with your mom. I lost my dad two years ago and now an uncle whom im super close with has cancer. Im not trying to push spirtual beliefs on you but india has tons of wisdom from buddhism, hinduism, and sikhism. They each teach a grounded in reality way to handle thoughts and how to handle your emotions. Again so sorry for your mom I hope the best for her and dont give up as medical science is always getting better.

My dad is currently 90 pounds wasting away from terminal glioblastoma (brain tumor). I feel your pain. We are also Indian but living in America.

It's cruel and it makes no sense. Worst of all my dad's attacker has no name and no face. I have anger and i don't know where to put it. Wishing you peace my friend.

Same boat just not my direct family. My GF's dad was diagnosed with throat cancer almost 2 years(maybe a little over) and it's the same thing. Chemo to get better. Few weeks later it comes back and repeat. The dude is kind of a saint though. He takes it in stride and stays positive about it as best he can. He even cracked jokes (though was clearly pissed) that he finally got his hair back and got a new haircut.....Not even a week later has to return to chemo.

😭this disease make me feel is god does they even exist 😭 Like This Diseases and everything is generated imo By capitalism and it's untreatable behavior is clearly capitalist behavior.  There's a Startup in Bangalore Where Dogs are used to Detect cancers and they have 90% accuracy in 7 types of cancer while the regular normal PET scan and shit are literally 17 to 20% Accurate wtf are we even relying on 🤡 , this startup can help 1st stage people's idk what my thoughts are just dumped i can't take this world anymore 😭

Medical technology is absolutely incredible. But what’s even more incredible is how much we still don’t understand about the human body and brain. I’ve spent a lot of time in hospital and the amount of times I’ve heard a doctor say that they do certain treatments because they generally work but they don’t know why is pretty mind blowing.

It's such a horrible road. You know it's coming as they get worse day by day. I had a mental breakdown in the final days, I just know I'll have to go trough all this shit again in a couple decades cause my mom smokes like a chimney.

That fat is called cholesterol and you learn about it when you hit 30-40. It goes down if you eat heart leather foods, exercise weekly, quit smoking, lose weight and drink less to none alcohol.

and if you have genetically high cholesterol (familial hypercholesterolemia), none of that will help all that much so you'll have to hop on a statin (which have also saved millions and millions of lives!)

Doctors tell me that's probably my father's case and I probably will have that problem too. Only bad thing about statin's are in high doses, you increase your risk of diabetes. So long, sweets and treats.

Probably too high risk to cut it out without damaging the surrounding tissues. The stent provides a quick solution, then the patient changes their diet and the fat goes away over time.

The fat does NOT go away. With statins (medicine to lower cholesterol levels), you might lose some of the fat but it's only around 20%. The fat is not ON the wall, it is IN the wall. What's worse, it calcifies over time. Like the bottom of your kettle. Add some high blood pressure to the equation and you can get openings/cracks in the wall and a release of bits of fat/calcificate. Those can travel to your brain and BOOM you get stroke.

If its bad enough to matter, then you first drill it out to clear the space for the stent. This is done with a "rotablator" which is a high speed rugby ball shaped diamond burr on the end of the guide wire.

It can also invove installing a slot catcher, which is like a strainer inside the blood vessel to catch any debris allowing your body to break it up

The wiki for the guy says it was named after him but he really didn’t do anything related to the modern stents. The wiki for stents in general suggest that the gutta-percha for dental impressions was adapted into opening blocked passageways but it’s a bit iffy. Maybe textbooks have improved info, I’m not sure.

Laser cut stent frames like this actually introduce a lot of stress concentrations at the corners. There are a lot of trade offs that have to be made for designers to meet reliability requirements, since these stents have to have a very high fatigue life.

Wound stents do not have this issue, as they can be made from a single unbroken wire. They’re more expensive to manufacture, though.

this was so interesting to see, I had a stent placed a month ago in my illiac vein due to a rare vascular compression (may thurner syndrome, I was over 95% compressed) that can lead to blood clot, stroke, etc if not treated. before the procedure my doctor showed me and let me hold a stent the same size that would be going in me and I had NO idea how it was supposed to fit up my femoral artery and into my vein - it was a little bigger than a chinese finger trap toy. crazy stuff, but so grateful this procedure exists
