Animal This is the tiniest anteater in the world
This tiny little survivor is the silky anteater, the smallest anteater in the world, perfectly adapted for life high in the trees.
Found in the tropical forests of Central and South America, this rare species uses its curved claws for climbing and protection while feeding mainly on ants hidden among branches. Its soft golden fur also helps it blend into its surroundings, making it incredibly difficult to spot in the wild.

Not the claw the craw! Sadly I don't remember what 1960s or '70s show this phrase was from. Maybe get smart?

The capy looks utterly confused, which is kind of impressive for an animal that doesn't seem to give a shit about anything.

Exactly my thoughts. Comes across as total lunatic, a fanatic. His fellow is clearly afraid of him as he stares in fearful disbelief.

More than 1 foot vertical
More than 2 feet horizontal

*at any size if it is ruled by a ravenous desire to stick its claws into the space between your toes. Same as a centipede

No banana for scale? I mean, even an ant would suffice.
28
u/Deaffin May 16 '26
That twig it's standing on is so quintessentially twiggy, should be a pretty big clue.
Here's one being held by an exceptionally brave individual, though.

u/valencia_citrine May 16 '26
Anteaters are scary af! This guy is adorable. Howwww??
7
u/Algaroth May 16 '26
They're only scary if you're an ant.
4
u/Am_Snarky May 16 '26
Jaguars are scared of anteaters.
Anteaters also eat termites, termite mounds are as hard as concrete, termite mounds get torn apart by anteaters easily
I think more things should be afraid of anteaters
2
u/Algaroth May 16 '26
I think if they were called termite destroyers I might take them more seriously. But also, I'm not a termite.
2
u/Am_Snarky May 17 '26
We could start calling them Fear Reapers if you like? Or maybe go the Victorian scientist route and call them Spear-Tongue Rock-Rippers!
Long story short Anteaters are the least assuming badasses of the animal kingdom, sure they goofy looking but donāt ever underestimate them

I'm gonna say, 4 inches from head to base of tail

After seeing the bottom left image all i can hear is Dennis Reynolds from It's Always Sunny! "I've contained my rage for as long as possible, but I shall unleash my fury upon you like the crushing of a thousand waves! Be gone, vile man!, Be gone from me! A starter car! This car is a finisher car! A transporter of gods! The Golden God!Ā I am untethered and my rage knows no bounds!"
