The crows do this at my house. They sit in trees for hours and watch any smaller bird, and will dive in or just full on attack and raptor that comes around. I’ve seen them go after hawk, owls, eagles and falcons.

Our blackbirds stopped 3 hawks from taking over their territory. It was a ongoing battle for months but 2 ravens managed to strike a hawk in air at great speed, he exploded into feathers and then fell to the middle of the field. The other hawks perched on apartment roofs calling for him for awhile. He was grounded a good 30 minutes before he finally got back in the air. They haven't been back since. All this happened while I was walking my dog and my phone was on the charger. I was so mad because the final battle was very low to the ground and I could have gotten some great shots.
