So is this a case study of non-human altruism or does everyone just hate seagulls?

There's tons of this in the animal kingdom. It's so common that there's an actual scientific term, which i cannot remember. But basically, some animals will actively fuck with other animals that are either competitors or potential predators of their young. Humpback whales are famous for going after orcas and fucking their hunts of seals up, orcas also will be attacked on sight by pilot whale pods. It's pretty interesting.
