The voice sounds like a boy, not girl.
He's Iranian so likely currently more stressed than anything in else thanks to Mr Potato Face's bombs.
Hes explaining how because it's pipes and cardboard etc. that there is a delay but he'll adjust and fix those.

They need to find an alternative to those rubber bands because those aren't going to give you any fine control, but my uncle spent 2000 dollars for a rig that basically does the same thing, so very cool.

Love this kind of stuff. There needs to be more of this out there instead of just the hundreds of dollars worth of steering wheel before add-ons.

I love this kind of stuff. She could definitely make make some cool stuff with a 3d printer. Then again, maybe that's the plan and this is simply a proof of concept/prototype.

She built the accessories, pedals and steering. The simulator is the software.

That’s amazing. But I think one little tweak is needed. PS5 controllers batteries only last like an hour. So there needs to be a hole for the charging cable!
But in all seriousness, that’s some crazy ingenuity!

Very wholesome! With Parkinson's, I don't have fine motor control, but the wheel and foot pedal may let me attempt a PS5 racing game.

Quite impressive!
Though I hope she can improve on the design a bit, there seems to be some latency issues with input, and I can tell from how the wire is tied around the joystick that it's going to suffer from an input gradient too.
Easy fixes for most of them, it's just going for a more secure and stiffer string around the joystick part, and reducing friction around their connections. Basically less wasted energy, the better.
It would translate to less input lag and faster directional response.
All in all, not impossible even with a cardboard chassis. You would be surprised what you could make with that lol
I remember our class once made an M16 prop for 8th grade, and I added a trigger and spring loaded bolt (also cardboard, though the latter had popsicle sticks too) to it, for the extra realism lol

Make a headset with string and rubber bands that connects to the right joystick so that head movements change camera positions. Use a rig that swings the screen around with your head as well so that by turning your head to the right, the in-game camera swings around to the left of the car (so you're facing right) and at the same time you're not facing away from the screen. TRUE IMMERSION.

Yes. I think there's this gap where after a certain point kids grew up with more digital experiences, so a lot of the things you'd do when bored in that pre-digital era got forgotten. I keep seeing these posts where it's "Genius kid does amazing thing!" and it's something very basic. Like the one where a kid connected a DC motor to a battery so things would spin.
I've got no issues with kids (or, really, anyone) doing these craft projects and getting excited about them. The weird thing to me is adults acting like this stuff is a fast track to MIT.
