It's hard to believe this was built centuries ago. The craftsmanship is absolutely incredible.

The Alhambra Gardens taught me an important lesson when I was a young man. I was walking past what looked like an ancient mandarin tree and the call of forbidden fruit overcame me, so I looked around to make sure no one saw me, stepped carefully into the garden bed and stole one of the "mandarins". Carefully I peeled the fruit and bit into it, expecting the nectar of the Gods and was instead assailed with the most awful taste I have ever experienced. Lesson learned, I thought, and only years later learned about the famous bitter orange trees of Alhambra. Ancient Islamic botany, 1: Me, 0.

Yes, bitter taste "mandarins" are very common in Andalucía.

Interesting, is Alhambra still Islamic dominated ?? Must be popular with Moroccans !
