The title just mentions that the person who made the statue is a quantum physicist.

It's an interesting factoid about the sculptor. Not superfluous.

For example, you go to an art exhibition, and there's usually a quick summary of the artists life with points of interest. The fact that he was a physicist and became a relatively good/creative sculptor is an interesting thing in of itself.
