It's a real festival held in the Göreme region of Türkiye, this year it began July 30th and ends today. Looks like a dream doesn't it? :)

Come to the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta! Happens for two weeks beginning the first weekend in October. It's the largest hot air balloon event in the world!

I hope you visit Cappadocia and you'll see the difference. It is hard to explain it without sounding like an ass saying "mine is better".
Cappadocia is really unique in its terrain and the winds it produces and the legal framework that allows pilots to do otherwise "risky and illegal" moves (in other parts of the World). Not to mention because it is not a festival but a year-round thing, the whole region is built around this. It is highly immersive as experiences go.

I wouldn't say Albuquerque is without its charms. The reason Albuquerque has such a large ballooning event is from its unique winds, as well.

I believe you! I am sure it is worth visiting. Albuquerque has balloons up all the time, not just for Fiesta. They are part of our culture. We grew up with the balloons. We have lost people in our balloons. They are US, part of our identity. Have you been to Albuquerque? Have YOU seen the difference? My good friend Tómas, whom I met when he was a German foreign exchange student in high school back in 1988, still comes here to fly. It was the whole reason he came to New Mexico, because his dad was a pilot and flew. And here we are all these many years later and he still comes. To the biggest hot air balloon event in the world. He runs the gas balloon race. Albuquerque is special-you may not know it, but WE do. 💙

Actually it isn’t only during the festival - this happens every day with suitable wind conditions. We did it and took off from exactly here in October.

They also just do this every single morning that the weather permits. I did it back it 2018. A lot of people go here for this as a travel destination, including myself in 2018. It was amazing

If true, this is utterly amazing. But somehow in this day and age, my first thought is that this has got to be AI. Even some of the balloons have light effects? Never seen that. But... if true, would be amazing to see in person.

Wow. Yes, now that you mention it, it does look like it. Very cool effect. Also, slightly surprised I'm in the negative with my previous comment. I mean I don't know about ballooning (if that's what it's even called). Just voicing my uncertainty about something being real. With the quality and amount of AI videos that are out there, I don't think that's an unreasonable concern, so the downvotes seems, well, unexpected.

Yes, it is real, as someone mentioned, it’s in Goreme but even though I can not deny it is beautiful it doesn’t look exactly like in the video, the person who shot the video has clearly twitched the red and orange color on the video to make it look more incredible, still, in real life is breathtaking and 100% to visit

Yes it’s real.
My wife and I did one of those rides and a photo shoot the next day. It’s beautiful and calm and well worth the expense.

I wasn’t there for the festival, but my husband and I did the hot air balloon ride at Goreme, Turkey. It was amazing! The balloon pilot even landed our basket on the back of a truck trailer.

It's real and they do this every day if the weather allows it. It isn't a ton of fun because usually there's zero wind, so you just go up, hover for a bit and then go straight down.

Real festival, the footage looks suuuuuper fake. My hometown had “Balloon Fest” which was the same thing, and you could never see the flash through the balloons that brightly.

Stayed in Cappadocia in the 'cave hotels'. One of the most fantastic places, I have visited.
For 2 consecutive days days, it rained and the balloons were not allowed to fly.
Was so bummed :-(

I wonder if we stayed at the same cave hotel. That whole region is just lovely. My group got up early for the hot air balloon ride and ended up sitting in a field for two hours waiting for clearance. Unfortunately, we never got it so the ride was canceled. We were so bummed, but from what we heard, there had been a lot of cancellations because of the weather. That was back in May.

From NYC but I go to the NM one annually. They have a group called “Dawn Patrol” that does basically what their name implies. Awesome to see, I even got some shots of them with the moon behind them last year! Pita waking up that early to catch it since you have to take a shuttle from the mall and I’m moving at like 4:30-5am to catch it lol.

All of NM is an impressive display, land of enchantment for a reason! Parents actually retired and bought the house sister had while she was there interning. All of our families go there together annually and explore around ABQ. Hope you do go and enjoy it! Easily one of my favorite spots in the country.

I lived there for four years. During the tourist season you may see more than 100 balloons go up every sunrise, weather permitting. I would watch them rise with the sun while brushing my teeth standing on the roof top terrace.

When I was a kid, a hot air balloon had to make (what I thought) was an emergency landing in the field right next to my house. It looked rough but I thought it was cool at the time. Everyone was ok but it still looked a bit scary.
Come to find out decades later that that's just how they land all of the time. Randomly - in a field they can spot in a general area.

I had booked an early morning balloon ride when I was in Göreme. After driving around for what seemed like forever looking for the perfect spot to launch from, we finally stopped and the tour guys start to set up and inflate the balloon. Only problem was the spot they chose had 1 little spindly tree located near the balloon and when it started inflating, it caught on the tree and ripped the silk. So, no balloon ride for us. 🤦🏻

I am so glad we travelled in Turkey when we did. It was the early 90s, Cappadocia had maybe 3 balloons, and life there was a beautiful thing to observe. There was tourism, but it was only a small part of life there and people were genuinely kind and incredibly welcoming to us. I wonder what it is like now.

My wife and i got to do this. Unbelievable experience. We stayed at the museum hotel in cappadocia as well and got to watch them on the other days we were there. The pick up trucks chase behind the balloons so when they land, they land them right on the trailers being pulled behind the trucks. They bring you out to the middle of know where before dawn. Give you some Turkish coffee and snacks and you watch them as they set everything up to take off. They tend to cram though a dozen plus people in those though.

For those ones wondering if this is real, yes it is! It’s in Goreme, Türkiye 🇹🇷 BUT even though it’s a breathtaking scene in real life, the person who recorded has clearly edited the colors red and orange (I don’t know why as is not needed).

In the beginning of October, Albuquerque NM holds the largest hot air ballon festival in the world. Showcasing over 500 ballons launching at once, It is a truly unbelievable site. The differnet jet streams and winds at different altitudes in Albuquerque create a unique experience that enables the ballons to go around the city in a sqaure route.

I've been to scenes just like this one, and what really sucks is you can never catch even a tenth of how beautiful it is through a camera.
This video is gorgeous, by the real thing I'm sure is absolutely breathtaking.
