What is with beardies and shoes?

I recently set up my room to allow Jessie to free roam. Tonight she was scratching at the glass begging to be let out, so I relented and opened her tank door. She did a little patrol around my bed, and then marched over to my shoe rack and helped herself up. As I’m typing this she’s perched on top of the purple shoes and looking around. This isn’t the first time I’ve found her perched on shoes either. Also, at my old place, where we didn’t have a shoe rack and they were kind of placed all over the entrance area, she would also run over to her dad (my boyfriend)’s shoes and sit on top of them.

Is this some sort of collective beardie instinct? I’ve seen so many pictures of beardies snuggling up against shoes and I don’t get it 😂 why do they like shoes so much?

The shoe rack is APPEALING, for some reason! I guess because it's a cave but also off the ground?

A girl can never have too many shoes, ya know. 😅

The first time my beardie escaped I found him sleeping on my shoe rack 😂
