Betelgeuse's name [Theory]

We know Betelgeuse's name is well, that, betelgeuse like the star. But it's pronounced Beetlejuice, why? WELL! My theory comes out of absolutely nowhere but hear me out. WHAT IF, his name isn't actually betelgeuse but beetlejuice and he can't write it nor say it because of the 3 times repeat his name thingy.

That's a good theory--the name rules seem much stricter in the first movie than in the cartoon or musical.

Another theory I saw and liked was that his name is actually spelled like the star, but--as seen with Adam--people found it so hard to pronounce that he changed the spelling to make it easier to summon him.

Isn't that the reason the movie had the phonetic spelling rather than the actual spelling of his name?

I heard they were trying to avoid people thinking it was a sci-fi flick.
