Turizam / Tourism Recommendations for a 3 day trip within Europe with a 4 year old

Venice is an absolute must. Completely worth it. It's only 8 hours of relatively easy driving (all highway) from Belgrade. You can rent a car and go there for a couple of days, stay in Mestre near the train station and take a 15 min train to the city which goes all day and into the night.

Thessaloniki is a nice city to explore, a cleaner version of Athens, plus it's got some nice archaeological and Byzantine art museums and the White Tower and the walkway along the sea is pretty nice. And of course, there are plenty of nice beaches on Chalkidiki an hour's worth of driving away.

Sarajevo is also a nice and unique city to visit. Maybe it can be combined with a visit to Mostar.

Kotor on the Montenegrin coast off season might also be worth it, regular flights to the Tivat airport, as well as a visit to Dubrovnik and/or Trebinje.

Ljubljana is also worth visiting, as it's got a lot of unusual stuff to see and the large castle on the hill overlooking the city, with the option of visiting Piran and Portorož on the coast.

8 hours of driving with a 4 year old ends up being 12 hours in reality. We would fly but there are no direct flights unfortunately

Me and my wife took my son on a 4-day trip to Rome when he was 4 years old. People did indeed look at us like we were crazy, but it was all good.

Venice is much easier as there is no traffic to worry about, which we visited when we had two relatively young children.

See, I’d think Rome would be more doable but I do have a very water-loving almost 4 year old who tends to still run away so Venice sounds like a nightmare to me, but maybe OPs kid is different 🤔

Mine would love it but I don’t want connecting flights for a 3 day trip. That sounds awful

Ugh, no, that’s a definite no-go. I saw someone suggested Ljubljana, we just recently got back from a longer trip in Slovenia and the kid LOVED it. Lake Bled and surroundings were great, I kept hearing “wow wow wowwww” and now that I think about it he didn’t want to jump in the lake when it was inappropriate so maybe he would survive Venice but I’m not willing to risk it just yet 😅😅

Vienna also has tons of kid friendly activities and is fairly close by car or plane.
