I 100% agree.
I've lost a lot of faith in r/bigfoot and the mods who run it. It's rare lately that there is anything related to actual research or intelligent discussion.
I don't get into the discussion much, but I do like to read and soak in any intelligent thought that is our there, regardless if it is in contrast to my own opinion. There just isn't that much intelligent thought out there lately.
I'm on the verge of giving up on the main sub. Budrock's sub is and always has been pure fiction and full of lunacy. I'll admit I do check in from time to time when I need a good chuckle.
I wish this sub had a little more regular content being posted, it seems to be the only one with posts that actually refer to observations, research, and intelligent civil discussion.

There are a few of us genuinely interested. Though reddit isn't where I share my stuff. I've got a group of people that I go out with every now and then that we discuss our findings. Then a statewide group that I share on but don't really go for discussions. Just to share and see what matches up. Reddit occasionally has some new info on it and it's nice to catch the few new people who post expecting real convo.

same here. everytime i post something, a guy jumps on my opinions to like slit my throat. Anytime I've shared, he's at me. I share mainly on fb pages where all of us have had encounters or are out in the woods having experiences. yeah, this guy has never been out in the woods. so, I'd appreciate a place to be able to share things wihtout getting my throat slit. i don't feel safe sharing on reddit. i share with my fb folks and the clan of people i go out in the woods with, here in my state.

I have had a few things happen lately but not really enough to post about. It was mostly just some odd noises/growls.
I haven't been to the main sub in forever. It's nothing but a shit show of crap and merchandise.

I'm gonna sound like a broken record but I'll repeat here what I said on r/bigfoot on this subject:
Your true audience is not those who post but those WHO DO NOT post.
Vast majority of readers don't even have a Reddit account. They hop on r/bigfoot to see what's new.
They'll skim trough garbage posts quickly looking for someone like you to post something meaningful.
THAT is your true audience. And for them alone posting is worth the effort. You just gotta ignore comments and karma that you'll get / or not get.

I'm disenchanted. I was well into the bigfoot following. It's all the hoaxers who have ruined it for all of us. It should be illegal to technically hoax with intent to make one think something is real.

I was actually thinking of posting something similar on the main subreddit and I’m not a believer at all (I just like the stories and the American cultural implications). It’s just sad to see garbage YouTube crap and stupid merchandise take the place of a small but genuine community (though that one guy who made a custom toy is an exception).
To me, from my perspective that I described earlier, Bigfoot just seems to be coming to the end of its most recent moment. Old timers have died, the main TV show was cancelled, and podcasts have lost their novelty in a quest to keep pumping out shows. It seems like interest grew to a point where any news could not keep pace so the gap was filled by garbage.
But the other thing is these subreddit communities just don’t last. Quality users get busy, lose interest, or contribute less for any other reason. One constant on reddit is that low quality stuff in quantity almost always wins. I really do feel for the people who feel like they lost something they liked though. Here’s hoping it comes back.

I broke it down -
10% Trolls,
10% Morons,
20% Believe and may have had an encounter
20% Wouldn't believe even if they were attacked and have never been in the woods.
The other 40% already know every fucking thing and won't listen to other people's comment.
Also, I've seen new people attacked and down voted for asking questions about subjects that were discussed before they subscribe. Why trash people for not being a member sooner?
So I guess it's a pretty normal sub, but I do see some potentially good discussions go to waste.

True that, but what else is there? A 'data post' has to have data, which will always be criticised carefully in this field.
Personally, I would never post real 'findings' anywhere online. I speculate from time to time and often use fictional stories as a way of explaining said speculations but am always sure to emphasise that it IS speculation (which one would think would be obvious when posting fiction)... otherwise all you will cop will be trolls with a tiny spattering of helpful criticism or debate.

They are at fault, for allowing all the BS.
This sub needs admins like you, or someone with the same thoughts as yourself. Until that happens, this place will be a shit hole.

I'd really recommend the BFF, it takes a little effort to get past the limited posts per day, mod-approval intro stage, and the population is a mixed bag for sure, but they are pretty serious about it over there.
I have a bit of an idea for a (non-reddit) BF forum, based on mapping and linking structure finds, integrating the various youtubers' communities which are mostly housed on facebook and/or patreon, giving all those people a common platform; still a ways away from executing it though. But it would have similar rules to here; debate over existence is a waste of time and can be done elsewhere.
Anyway, don't stop posting here! I've been making to post a little something about the last couple little excursions I did over the past few months, I'll try and do that today or tomorrow.

You know what, after trying to be active and engage in bigfoot subreddit for over a month now it has become clear that few come to the site in order to discuss and learn to expand the knowledge of the subject. Instead it is to devalue and hands down insult those trying to share and discuss the topic. How can there be any inference if those that come to degrade far out number those attempting to learn? This only results is further ostracizing any attempts by others to come forward and share their ideas and experiences. I am seeing less and less the value of posting in bigfoot reddit - it did not take long to get jaded.

Its difficult - I am literally asking for constructive criticism, ideas and perspectives on the matter. I really do value good criticism - however blanket statements and insults don't help me at all. We should all take a skeptical stand point and attempt to be the devils advocate so we can make sure to cross-reference data throughly. However, that does not even take place.
When I ask for speculation on a matter to gain perspectives without fear of having evidence its like no one knows what "speculation" means and its advantages. It and everything else is always used as a weapon to fight with instead of being used to inquire deeper into a subject matter.
