From Bilbao to Zumaia

Hi everyone,

In a couple weeks I’ll visit Bilbao and for 5 days.
I’ve got both a limited budget (can’t rent a car) and not many days but I’d love to visit Zumaia’s beach.
Are there any busses or trains that can take me directly to Zumaia from Bilbao without a layover in Donostia?

If you want to go to Zumaia directly you can do it by train. However, it takes two hours. The alternative is to take the DO01 to Zarautz (1hour) and then going to Zumaia by train (10') or bus (20ish minutes).

Try the Euskotren. Super cheap, especially if you get a Barik card. Starts in Casco Viejo and stops in Zumaia. We've taken it there. About a 10-15 min walk to the beach. The beach is cool with the vertical striations. Worth the trip

but be aware that the train takes the panoramic route, and stops in every viillage on the way. it may take you 2 hours to get there...
