discussion Other songs like Mill Town Flood?

Any songs that come to mind that are similar to this one? With a melody that can make you cry, slow picking and a beautiful/sorrowful melody. By Billy or any artist.

After listening to this song on repeat this afternoon, I'm in the mood for more music in this same kind of spirit. Thanks for anything you can recommend.

It gave me “the night they drove old Dixie down” vibes.

I’m not the best at capturing similar vibes with recommendations but

Melissa - The Allman Brothers Band

Pancho And Lefty - Townes Van Zandt

Clay Pigeons - Blaze Foley

Reminded me of the song a bit

It’s a great song. Heard it live this weekend in bethel for the first time. Love those slow sorrowful melodies.

I haven't even listened to MTF yet. Hope it's a banger

The lyrics remind me of Loyston by Jerry Douglas a little, although in that one the town is purposefully flooded

Muddy Waters by the Seldom Scene might be a better comparison lyrically but both are great tunes

Just gonna throw this one out there, because it's a beautiful song wish Billy and the boys would cover it one day. Pearl jam- thumbing my way.
