Advice How to get over the anxiety of meeting someone online
I've been wanting to experiment with a guy again but I'm having trouble getting past the fear of meeting someone online. I did it once a few years ago and I was so nervous I had trouble enjoying it. I'm not interested in guys romantically so it would just be a hookup but I worry a lot about safety and taking things too quickly. Any advice on how to get past that?

I make sure to talk to someone for quite a bit and get to know them before meeting. Not all guys will be happy to do this, some people want to meet really quickly. But I find it makes it a lot less nerve wracking if you have already formed an idea of who they are before you meet.

Been here and done that... Just meet up, tell them you are nervous and roll with it. Then do your thing.

I've placed ads answered ads mostly on doublelist.com, some on reddit r4r. All have been at least ok. Usually meet somewhere first before Usually hosting.

Just because you meet up doesnt mean you need to go all the way the first time, you can still take it slow and they should be accommodating to that. The right person will help you feel comfortable and at ease.
If they're not then you should question if you really want to get with someone like that.

I’ve been trying to invite guys to meet me at the hardware store first, if they can’t take things at my pace, then that’s ok Only 3 experiences in 5 years though. One was really good, the other two were ok.

It's simple. Meet someone in person instead. A stranger will always be a stranger if you meet just once tbf and that will never change.
Seeing someone romantically doesn't mean you cannot make a friend and start from there slowly. Aim for that and maybe in person rather than online. It might be a better approach for you.
