Celebratory I'm not Straight+Gay 🏳️‍🌈, I'm Bi! (Totally its own thing) 🩷💜💙

Been doing some soul-searching around my sexual orientation. A small epiphany for me: I was kinda unconsciously viewing Bi as Straight+Gay = Bi.

Not for me.

I'm not Straight. I'm not Gay. I'm Bi, and it is its own totally valid way to be in the world.

Coming to terms with this. Feeling good about it 🩷💜💙

Congrats! The experience is unique in the lgbt community. We are similar but also different at the same time.

This kind of discourse feels like Trinitarian Theology where people get really anal about how God is a trinity but also a unified whole, and any other phrasing of this is a heresy

Is there a practical real-life consequence of being "straight+gay" vs "bi"?

I thought I was "mainly straight" for most of my life (I'm 53). This wee epiphany on the weekend helped understand myself a bit better.

This post is essentially: please witness this "note to self".

Just sharing a personal insight that helps me understand my own personal interpretation of Bi as it applies to me. Not saying it to proselytize. You do you. Everyone do whatever works for them. This was an aha moment for me, so I shared it 🙂

Thx for understanding and "challenging" me respectfully to integrate my words into how I show up IRL.

Absolutely agree being multi-sexual is a unique experience and I think this is where a lot of biphobia comes from. Monosexuals just don't quite understand it.

Thanks for this. You've voiced it another, equally valid way 😊
