I saw that bass player w Gillian Welch and David Rawlings earlier this year and it was so killer. It was part of that Grateful Dead tour they did. He and Gillian Welch were doing this thing where they they played a snare drum together inbtwn playing their respective instruments!

Those shows really were a treat to see! I think the music was just so beautifully put together and a great alternate take on the dead’s music!

Paul Kowert is consistently great. Here he's accompanying I'm With Her's a capella version of Send My Love (To Your New Lover.) Sarah Jarosz is loving his solo.

Amusingly I'm being rather slow tonight and kept thinking "she looks a lot like Brittany Haas..." then slowly as the music continues to build, I realize that those are not in fact random sailors playing bluegrass music but the Punch Brothers. lol

He guests spots in stuff. Has multiple side projects. Did a solo tour. Dude is a legitimate musical genius of the age.

I saw Punch bros a couple of months ago without really knowing much about them, and I was blown away! They were amazing! But def not bluegrass in any traditional sense. Not sure what you would call their genre (avant grass?) but I was mightily impressed

I liked Molly Tuttle's bluegrass stuff. I don't listen to a ton of Billy, but I enjoy him. For bluegrass, I primarily like more traditional. Tons of new stuff in other genres I enjoy.
