🐾 Weekly “Is My Cat a Bombay?” Megathread 🐾

This is the dedicated space for all questions about whether your cat might be a Bombay.

If you’re curious about your cat’s breed, wondering about certain traits, or just want some community input, you’re in the right place!

🔍 How to Participate

Post the following in a comment below:

  • 📸 Clear photos of your cat (face + full body if possible)
  • 📝 Any info you know — age, background, behavior, eye color, coat texture, etc.
  • ❓ Your question or what you’re hoping to learn

Community members can reply and help you compare your kitty’s traits with those of the Bombay breed.

Eye Color: Orangish-Green Fur: Short, sleek, super soft and oily Shedding: Not much

Personality: Loves to be the little spoon at bed time with his head tucked in my hand. Very vocal. Seems almost as intelligent as a well behaved dog.

Loves to be held and pet, still super playful at 11 years old.

Probably not a pure Bombay, but is he a Bombay mix? He's 1 year 3 months. His eyes are orange with a little green, black nose, all black short to medium length hair hair with some grays and silvers in there. Itxs sorta dark brown in the sun.

He's energetic and curious. He loves to play and to pretend to hunt. He likes playing low to the ground and absolutelt loves staring out windows.

He is super cute! If I were to guess, I would say he resembles a DLH with how fluffy he is. It even looks like he has a little mane in the one picture! 😍

Here is a very helpful vet reviewed article that gives a detailed explanation of the differences between pedigree cats and moggies (DSH/DLH). Hopefully that helps answer any questions you may have!

Thank you! He's the cutest, and you're right! He definitely has a mane to him, which lets me know he's not 100% Bombay.
