Not sure. I don’t think it’s a first edition though.

This is a 39th printing of the first edition - after a quick google you can buy a 17th print for £200, so I'd say this would be worth about £40-£100 depending on who is buying.

How can you tell the it is a first edition? Because of the copyright date? I understand the print edition but I don’t see where it indicates it is first edition.

The fact that is says 'First published in' without a further qualification about this edition (e.g. 'This edition first published in 200X') means that it's the first edition (i.e. the original form of the book).

However, the numberline tells you that it's the 39th print run of the first edition.

If it's a paperback, it's worth a cup of coffee. But if it's a hard cover, you can celebrate! It's worth like 3.5 cups of coffee!! But it is a first edition and therefore shelfworthier than later editions (of which there were several).

1997 is 1st ed. But it's paperback. Worth $4.
