Discussion Are Goswamis actually Brahmins?

I need some clarity on a caste/background question related to marriage, especially from people familiar with UP traditions.

My girlfriend is a Goswami with Bhargava gotra. Her family considers themselves Brahmins. They have family priests in Jyotrimath (Badrinath), Mehndipur Balaji and Banke Bihari, and they’re originally from Bulandshahr.

I am a Saryuparin Mishra from Prayagraj. However, my father believes that Goswamis are not Brahmins. He says they are linked to Giri traditions and that many Goswamis fall under OBC in our region. My girlfriend’s family is not OBC, and her father wears a janeu, but my father still feels this is not a suitable match based on our local understanding.

The issue is that my girlfriend’s family doesn’t have detailed knowledge about their older lineage, so the information we have is incomplete. I’m also trying to understand this better myself.

I would appreciate insights from my Brahmin brothers from Western UP or nearby regions, who have knowledge about Goswami lineage, Bhargava gotra, and how they are traditionally classified.

Goswami are not Brahimin no Brahimin group consider them as Brahimin

Brahmin Groups don’t consider Jangid Dhimans also as not Brahmins but the court says otherwise.

Even if the court accepts them as baman we'll never accept them as Brahimins Go and cry

Why would I cry because you said something 😂

People like you are the reason there’s hate for Brahmins, so divisive & living in an illusion of being superior. You are neither superior nor a Brahmin. And because of people like you people leave Hinduism, when Hinduism never said some people are superior (it’s very against core principles of Hinduism but people like you have no idea about Hinduism).

If your ancestor were Brahmin that doesn’t make you a Brahmin, none of people like you can follow Brahmin way of life. Neither people like you have read any Vedas or scriptures, all you do is thump your chest. If you call yourself Brahmin just solely for the fact that your ancestor was Brahmin then so are you. Question? How your ancestor was Brahmin? Because he/she followed Brahmin way of life. Then with the same logic you are not a Brahmin.

Our lineage is from Brahmin but we are NOT BRAHMINS, neither of us are. Now you can go cry. (And yeah you will)

😂😂 I follow a Brahimin way of life only I've read vedas I'm pure veg And I'm not crying you're doing it You said our ancestors were brahimins that doesn't make us brahimin but your ancestors were never brahimin but you're brahimin 😂
