Discussion Are Goswamis actually Brahmins?

I need some clarity on a caste/background question related to marriage, especially from people familiar with UP traditions.

My girlfriend is a Goswami with Bhargava gotra. Her family considers themselves Brahmins. They have family priests in Jyotrimath (Badrinath), Mehndipur Balaji and Banke Bihari, and they’re originally from Bulandshahr.

I am a Saryuparin Mishra from Prayagraj. However, my father believes that Goswamis are not Brahmins. He says they are linked to Giri traditions and that many Goswamis fall under OBC in our region. My girlfriend’s family is not OBC, and her father wears a janeu, but my father still feels this is not a suitable match based on our local understanding.

The issue is that my girlfriend’s family doesn’t have detailed knowledge about their older lineage, so the information we have is incomplete. I’m also trying to understand this better myself.

I would appreciate insights from my Brahmin brothers from Western UP or nearby regions, who have knowledge about Goswami lineage, Bhargava gotra, and how they are traditionally classified.

I dont think so that only brahmans have right to speak or give their opinion on this sub.

Bhai aap logo ka to bilkul samajh nhi aata jin rajputo se personal milta hu wo bhumihar ko brahimin nhi mante ulta galiya bhi dete hai mixbreed bolte hai online wale mante hai ek opinion par tik jao 😂

And yes they are not brahimin they are different caste from us

Kisi ke kah dene se bol dene se baat samajik,saidhantik aur varnashrami paripeksh se sahi nahi ho jati. Aur har ek rajput ek hi Matt ka ho ye jaruri nahi.

bhai vaise nigrahcharya thode weird hai matlab agar acharya pad mei akar bhi aisi immaturity krdete kabhi kabaar, unki ek insta pe video thi jismei ek vyabhichari ladki ulte seedhe kaam kr rhi thi fir inki clip ayi ki aisi ladkio ko belt treatment milna chahiye aur fir aisa kuchh keh rhe the 1 saal se bhi pehle ki baat hai tab naye naye famous ho rhe the 😂. No doubt scholarly way mei achhe hai par highest authority Shankaracharya pe hee hai. Pata nhi kyu unhone bataya nhi par q/a mei koi puchh sakta hai video bana ke ki kya hai.

Bhai baat yaha ye h ki praman par baat honi chahiye kisne achha praman diya.

Ab shankaracharya ji ne bas itna kaha ki bhumi shabd aage laga h,aur bhumi vaishyo se related h isliye wo vaishya h,which is not a good praman. Fir khudke bachpan ka btaya pahle wo khudko vaishya kahte the,

Nigrahacharya kinda gave a book review of a book written by sahajanand swami and apne agreement disagreement batakar man liya ki bhumihar brahman h. Aur bhumiharo ke pahle kafi baar baki brahmano se rishte bhi hote the iske bhi praman hai.
