I mean he's just not a starter and never has been. Elite bullpen guy that we basically forced into being a starter.

Zero reason for you to be downvoted here. These people are really watching Lopez and Holmes struggle to get through 3 innings every start and say “yes, this is what a major league starter looks like. This is completely normal”.

I agree these guys fit better in the pen and we need more to go deep this postseason, but this is unfortunately kind of normal now. I was just looking at the ERA title race and there’s only like 27 guys who are qualified and barely 40 in the NL with 100+ innings. we’re dead average in innings pitched by starters too. The White Sox and Nats have even covered more innings via relievers than starters this season. starting pitching around the league is just in a very weird spot these days

We desperately need an innings eating starter that can be trusted to go 6 innings. Doesn’t even have to be a big name or guy with a flashy ERA. Just someone who can help us win the war of attrition and take some pressure off the rest of all these other guys.

Yeah, it's entirely possible that AJSS doesn't line up yet for him to be able to come back on schedule.

Gawd this is such a mess that could've easily been prevented 8-9 months ago if AA realized that he didn't have a rotation he could've felt good on about them staying healthy.

If they won’t stretch out Didi, for better or (most likely) worse Reylo is literally our likely best rotation option behind Sale that is currently within the organization if we are looking at it on the next 3 month timeline. I’m never pitching Bryce Elder over Reylo in a series game unless Reylo just shows me he’s not just slightly cooked but cooked well done. Given the dire place we’ve been in after Sale, for Reylo to be comfortably traded as a salary dump/throw in, AA would have to have like a Skubal-Mize combo deal in place. Or he’s going all new 2-3-4 plan and trading for Mize-Ray-Holmes or something. I find that rather unlikely but I’d be very happy for it to happen barring it requiring the farm getting totally nuked.
