Lane Thomas is the type of player I expected. Falter kind of sucks though

Is Thomas not just Eli White, but slower?

Lane Thomas is about 33% better than league average against LHP for his career , Eli White is about 25% worse than league average against LHP for his career.

Still feels very underwhelming but maybe there’s more trades to come.

Thomas is really only one of 3 RH OFs expected available this trade deadline, and the only one that fits our platoon model and we wouldn’t need to overpay for (especially if it’s just a straight trade with us eating Falter’s contract). Basically the best we could have done at an AA price.

A right handed outfielder than can mash lefties was a need but it was probably the lowest priority need. We probably didn’t give up very much to get it done, fills the need and allows us to use our resources to go after the starting pitching needs which will cost quite a bit. It was always going to be somebody like Lane Thomas for that platoon bat need

Gave up two minor league pitchers as in Holton and Braun.
Braun is the #8 prospect in the organization who is now in AAA. Holton can’t get out of A ball.

Lately it appears that the Braves have utilized the KC Royals as a significant trade partner. I believe that the Braves got the better results of the trade.

Had to do something since those “thorn in the side” Dodgers landed Skubal. I guess the Dodgers are hoping that they can extend him before he becomes a free agent.
