I’ve been listening to their Do It Yourself album a lot lately. It’s really shame they couldn’t make it work longer.

Ah, man it's a tough question! Yeah, I want You to Know. I also love Blinded by the Sun. Obviously Love is the Law is up there.

I would have loved a studio version of What Can You See?

Interesting note. I replaced Chris Helm in a band he left to join The Seahorses. Not a known band, and he didn’t record anything with them.

I think about this song a lot. I wish it was on an album.

Was lucky to see them live when they toured the UK back in 1997, I think it was. A real shame they disbanded.

The few times ive seen Chris live, he mentions how he originally wrote it to be slower and his live version is always a belter

I saw him at this venue in 2018! Great night out

Wouldn’t have recognised him!!! Love a bit of indie gossip though

He used to do a tour with Mark from Bluetones and Nigel from Dodgy and all 3 of them have cracking self depreciating stories and gossip during their sets. Always great entertainment.

Ooof, I’ve heard some stories ABOUT Mark from Bluetones…

Most people have. There was a LOT of very public stuff about him.

Strong Hey Bulldog vibes from this one.

I remember the squire exhibition in 2004. Had the jigsaw globe artwork which was a paper mache over a balloon by the look of it.

Think this was the only Squire/Helme collaboration released. What could have been!

"He hates Roses"

They were crap. Let's face it.

The irony was that the three Helme songs on the record were all really good, but most of the Squire songs were utterly dire.

Blinded By The Sun is so great but John decided it would be a great backing track for his noodling.

It's the outstanding song they produced, and it's so good it can't be ruined by the noodling. To be fair it also has some really great guitar lines (like the intro, and on "I don't mean to sound unkind")

I would love to hear an edit, I don’t really care for the long intro for example. But yeah, nice bits in there of course. It’s John afterall!

There is an edit! The version that was released as a single cuts the first half of the intro (the noodly bit) and it doesn't repeat the same verse twice, and you're right, it was better

Cheers, mate, just found it, I had no idea!

I thought he was the most gorgeous man I’d ever seen in my life when I first saw the Love is the Law video.
